his explanations are very clear, and in detail. the way he articulate proofs and examples he provides are fascinating and interesting. his tests aren't easy, but it is doable if you study, do homework, and go to class. he is not very sociable kind of teacher, but his teaching and lecture sessions are invaluable in excelling in exams.

I've had him three times and have had to drop his course once. He's pretty straightfoward and fair on exams and grading (undergrad or grad). Grades exams right away in full detail. Just make sure your mathematical maturity level is good and don't overdo your schedule.

Professor Knessl is extremely smart. He will lecture straight from the textbook, show you the proofs, and do minimal examples. He wants you to succeed in his class but expects you to work hard (very hard). Take him if you want to learn, but be prepared to study!

He is one of the worst professor I had at UIC.His lectures don't help at all, they just confuse you.Doesn't post any HW or practice problems but his quizzes are fair if you study.I actually regret taking his class.

Don't expect to learn anything from his lectures; he follows the book word for word. All you need to do for this course (diffEQ) is to learn how to solve examples (from book or other sources) and go to the TA with questions (don't just say "I don't understand; teach me.") And never mind all the proofs he goes through in class unless ur a math major

Professor Knessl is definitely one of the best instructors I have ever had. I took four courses and an independent study with him and got an A in all of them. He is awesome and I have not only learned mathematics from him but also how to teach.

He is not as bad as people make him out to be. If you had an easy time with Cal 1 and 2, then you should be just fine. If he also asks a question in class, if your going to answer make sure your correct because he has a tendency to give you an annoyed look.

Quizzes are noticeably easy once you have studied with the textbook. If you just read the textbook and do homework, then you'll be fine...as to all math classes.

Good teacher if you sit in front, further than 4 rows back though you're not going to hear a word the man says.

Really bad teacher. Whatever he says is only comprehensible to him and to the few kids who are sitting in the first 2 rows and have previously read the book. Tough grader on exams and exams are kinda difficult. Can ditch class but have to study for the quizzes. Make sure you go to Discussion, thats where u learn everything u need to know.

You must be willing to work very hard in his courses. If you do so, you will learn a lot and do well. He goes fast and expects you to keep up. His presentation style at the blackboard is a bit messy, but he does a great job of communicating the main ideas, so pay attention and go to class. If you want to learn mathematics, take this professor.
