At first I really hated him because he does give out a TON of homework, but he is actually a super good teacher and his feedback for work is awesome. It's a tough class but you will definitely learn a lot of drawing skills quickly.

Comment:

I thought Professor Lume was going to be a very difficult professor who was assertive with his students- he is not at all like that once you get to know him. He is one of the most caring people I have ever met. That being said, he's not going to go around saying everyone's artwork is perfect. He gives back great criticism.

Comment:

Compared to all the other drawing one classes, this is the only one that gets the amount of homework we do. He gives out homework every single class, each time being at least 1-2 hours outside of class. Right at the beginning of the semester he assigned us two papers that required us to buy and read two books, and a research presentation.

Class is easy and he is pretty much lay off on your work. Don't worry if you aren't talented because he will grade you according to what you can do, which is not much to say because you can pretty much do anything, as long as you have a good reason behind it. Also you will have to do a speech about an artist that he assign you so get ready to talk.

He is the type of teacher that loves to talk about himself. He makes you buy 2 books that have nothing to do with the class. He also doesn't care about the cost of anything and I spent around $400 for just his class.

I'm glad I took Drawing 1 with Professor Lume. He is very helpful and willing to offer feedback on your drawings. The class does require a lot of work, especially in the beginning, but it's worth it. There were four drawing projects that determined the final grade along with some smaller assignments. Challenging class, but is worth the effort.

I had him for drawing, he starts at the beginning of the beginning, so its really nice for students who haven't taken many art classes in high school. He is very helpful, and lets you know when you've done a good job and when you haven't. Lots of homework, but it helps! I learned so much in this class.

I wasn't into his philosophical readings each day. Had lots of homework. Being in his class for 3 hours at a time got very boring, especially when we did gesture drawings the whole time. Alright guy. He wasn't a fan of me because I was outspoken which affected my grades. Recommendation? Suck up to him.

Not an easy grader, but he goes the extra mile to help you as much as you desire. Two hours of homework plus projects gets a little heavy at times, but all in all, the class is very manageable. Overall pleased with the outcome..good guy, just kinda a tough grader at times.

I enjoyed him as an instructor, he was always willing to give you input, and help you out, and help you with ideas. Though, he did assign a lot of homework, and a lot of the classwork/homework got really repetative. NOT a hard class as long as you put effort into it, and do your work.

An amazing teacher that goes above an beyond his duties as a professor. He is a highly educated guy that will push you to think. He does give alot of work, but if your not here to learn maybe you need to re think why your here in the first place. I came out of his classes well informed
