Worse teacher I have had as a student at UTM. He is very smart, maybe to smart to teach lower level chemistry. He doesnt cover much in class. He is no help in office hours. SI and chem help lab were the only thing that helped me and when he gives you the test study guide its hand written but its basically how the test looks. Hand written tests!

Dr. Thomas was a great professor. He was a bit scattered when teaching but lets be honest, all Chemistry professors are! He is a much better professor than ones that friends had had. I highly recommend Dr. Thomas if you are not the best at Chemistry. Attendance was not mandatory but skipping class is definitely a horrible idea.

I hate giving bad reviews, but Dr. Thomas was not the best lab instructor. He gives weekly quizzes over the previous week's lab report, but he never even gave us our lab report until ten minutes before class, so we never had time to study! Most people failed his quizzes. He's also really strict on grading lab reports. I would not take him again.

The quizzes for lab are hard. He takes forever to explain the lab you're going to do that day but he doesn't explain it well. He confuses me a lot. My TA was my life saver she always helped explain everything like 10x better. He is really nice though.

He's a great person but lacks as a teacher. He's not very clear and he sometimes gets confused on the math. However, if you master his practice tests you will do fine on the real thing. I never made more than a C on quizzes but I made 100s on tests. Just be ready to Google things for your homework and master the practice tests and you'll be fine.

The worst teacher I have ever had. Teaches to fast, then when asked to go back over something he either ignores you or goes over something irrelevant to what you need help with. Bad about changing due dates and giving you a half day's notice by email.

Horrible teacher! He goes over material WAY too fast and his handwriting is awful. He doesn't actually teach; all he does is work problems from the book. If you actually want to learn something, I recommend NOT taking him!

He was horrible. When asked a question he'd refer back to an example problem that had nothing to do with our question, & he would use that same ex. problem for 5 different questions. He clicks his mouth constantly and walks back and forth constantly. He's late to class and did not prepair us for the final, what's sad is he's head of the department!

This guy is horrible. I didn't learn anything in his class. He thinks he is so much better than anyone. Devenyi should have been the Chem chair! I went to Thomas' office for help and got ZERO help. He is so unwilling to help! Devenyi is the only reason i passed Thomas' class.

Overall, not too bad. He's very "into" his subject which explains alot. The tests aren't too bad if you critically read the chapters in the book and work the practice tests. Practice tests are a HUGE part of passing this class; he basically gives you the same questions, they're just changed a little.

He is not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. If you come to class and learn the material you'll be fine. He gives big curves on tests. Old tests help a lot too!

he is awful! the absolute worst professor I have ever had. He teaches as if its a foriegn language! everything is way over anybodys head! His tests are hard though he does give a curve on all of them. When you ask him a question about a problem, he wont work it out, he will just point you to a problem in his slides that was SOMEWHAT SIMILAR to the

This was the abosolute worst class I have ever taken. He never explains anything, he directs you to his slides in which are posted on Blackboard. He give a ton of homework which is only worth 5 points (you only get the points if you did his selected problems). He teaches on a biochem level not an intro level.

Hey is a great guy outside of class. Not matter if it is general chem or biochem, his methodology is not effective. Lectures are totally disorganized with no background info on the subjet at hand. His slides do not convey meaning and therefore is not understood. If you are good at remembering factual nothingness, he might be the professor for you.

If you can learn on your own, then this is the professor for you. You basically don't need to go to class, he puts everything on the internet and is confusing anyway. He does give out practice tests and quizzes, which, if you thoroughly know those, will help you out immensely. Don't take him by choice unless you can devote a lot of time to chem.

Great guy, knows his stuff, but can't break it down to communicate it to the class. The tests are essay but about 1/2 from the old tests. The part that throws you is he changes his formatting of the tests about 1/2 way through. Study like you've never studied before and you should be ok.
