Professor Springwood is amazing! He cares about his students and loves the subjects that he teaches. Not only is he knowledgeable, but he is also hilarious. This class was easy and interesting. We were able to eat crickets and meal worms, talk about alcohol, and discuss cannibalism; what more could I ask for?

Chuck has been my favorite professor at IWU!! His classes were truly insightful and informative on important matters (gender, race, etc.) and the most thought provoking classes I've taken at IWU, shaping the way I view the world today. He does assign quite a bit of reading, but I found them to be quite interesting. TAKE HIS CLASSES!!!

Springwood has the most confusing exams I have ever had, to the point that when I asked him a question he did not know how to answer it. You can try your hardest in that classes but he will still give you no credit. His lectures are pointless and he finds his enjoyment in doing jump scares through yelling during his lectures.

Very nice guy, but his lectures are all over the place and very hard to follow. Missed class often and the syllabus is hardly used due to changed dates. Very down to earth guy and extremely caring about his students. Hard grader on papers/tests. Not easy class.

Most amazing teacher. He's very down to earth and casual, which made me think that his grading would be so too. Not true. He gives insight and comments on your papers, and he is a fair grader. Highly recommend.

Chuck is such a nice guy. I found him to be incredibly down to earth and helpful. His lectures are really animated. Some people think he's just talking about nonsense many times, but if you actually pat attention and follow what he's saying you'll see he's making a point about culture, which is what this class was all about.

Overall I found his class (Self/Society in Japan) to be very interesting. Interesting texts for the most part. Good deal of reading, though. Takes a while to return assignments/tests. Very funny guy. Makes class interesting. Lectures get off topic sometimes, though. Stuck to the syllable for the most part. I would recommend taking a class with him

Awesome guy, but really disorganized with his lectures. Assignments aren't that bad, but watch out for obscure questions on the tests--there are many of them.

Does not follow the syllabus. Both exams were moved the class period beforehand. He gave an assignment not on the syllabus and changed THAT due date to the class period before he wanted it due. Good teaching style; wants you to be interested and understand. Not organized; takes too long to grade exams/papers. I would not take another class with him

I loved Chuck so much! I was a bio major but I took as many anthro classes as possible because I enjoyed his teaching so much. Yeah sometimes he went off topic but it was always entertaining. He did a great job getting people involved in class and tried to get to know all the students.

Chuck was my FAVORITE professor of all-time! He's so passionate about what he teaches, and it's infectuous. While he may be fun, you also learn a lot in his classes. I almost never had to take notes--he was so interesting, I rememberd it all right away. If only there were more like he!

Chuck is amazing... the other things listed about him playing favorites is absolutely not true... no subject is off boundaries to him. Although it may seem like his lectures are full of wild tangents, they all have a point... he will help anyone if they come see him. Unfortunately he does have some serious health issues at times and therefore cannot help missing classes at times. Chuck is truly and inspiration...
