Swanson is a great teacher. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory, but his tests and quizzes are mainly off his classes and not the textbook/homework. It says there will be pop quizzes, but we only had two all semester and he clearly tells you when you will have one. Overall best teacher you can get for a difficult subject.

Decent Lecturer, Wish he gave more study guides because its a shot in the dark to study for any of his graded assignments. Lecture heavy. said we would have 1 Quiz a week. We ended up having 1 lecture and their is only 3 classes left

His lectures were confusing, and at times could not even explain the material and loses track. He would put numbers to solve things up that were completely wrong and then had to start everything over. You don't have to go to class but he gives pop quizzes that are worded so confusing. All the material from lectures, hw, & quizzes seemed different

Swanson's alright. Quizzes and tests are confusing and poorly worded (even if you study) but he gives you a ton of extra points to make up for it. HIs lectures can be confusing, so read the book and do the homework if you don't understand something and you'll be fine. Still got a good grade bc he added so many extra points to everything

Swanson is great! You WILL NOT pass if you don't go to every single class and read all of the assigned chapters though. Quizzes are difficult but they serve as the study guide for the midterm and final. He drops SO MANY hit's and reminders throughout lecture so this is not one of those show up and day dream classes. Take him, it will be worth it!

Swanson is okay. He gives "pop quizzes" but you'll always know when because he does a short review beforehand. Homeworks and textbook are online ($40), wants you to subscribe to Wall Street Journal ($15, don't do it) but it doesn't count towards much in his clas. Read textbook and take notes from homework and you should be fine. Quizzes are curved.

Swanson is hilarious but the way he teaches material is sometimes roundabout and confusing. If you ask questions he will try to help, but sometimes it is just easier to ask a classmate. The Sapling homework is to help you remember/understand the material, but on pop quizzes and tests you must apply it. He gives good hints so make sure you listen!

Swanson is a great guy. Class can get very boring, and at times your mind will just wander off because the material is so dry. The homework is not related to what you learn in class. You need to read the textbook and understand concepts fluently in order to do well. Very helpful if you go to his office hours, would recommend getting to know him.

Took for Macroeconomics. Funny guy, knows the subject matter, but isn't going to let you slide by with easy work. I definitely worked for my A in this class but I would take him again

Professor Swanson is a good Econ professor, he gives you many opportunities to get a good grade with his study guides to the pop-quizs. Final exam was very difficult. Online homework's are also a negative. Very time consuming.

Nice professor. Class got boring, but that's probably b/c I hate Economics. Was very clear and concise about everything. Quizzes and midterm were okay, but I suggest you read along in the textbook, cause there are things from the book that he doesn't mention in class. Final was cumulative but easier, b/c questions were taken directly from midterm.

MAKE SURE YOU GO TO CLASS AND TAKE NOTES if you do you are almost going to get at least a B if not an A he is a funny guy and keeps it interesting. If you take notes you will do well I can't stress it enough doesn't take attendence, though don't skip because you can

Really smart guy. Some of his presentation could be better, but it will all come together if you do the work. You WILL need to study and read outside of class. Quizzes are hard, but tell you precisely what is going to be on the Midterm/Final. Read and Practice, and you will have a very positive experience. Highly recommend for Econ major.

Not bad at all. He tries to be funny and creative so I'll give him credit for that. His quizzes may seem hard but if you take good notes you'll do very well. Forget about using or reading the book and JUST. TAKE. NOTES. and, like I said, you will do well. Take Swanson as the whole Economics dept. is pretty bad and he isn't bad at all.

I took honors Micro (got a C-), and then took nonhonors Macro w. Swanson (got an A). And for me to get an A in econ is a big deal. Attendance isn't mandatory but, like all classes, be sure to take his notes. I persuaded him to give the students who actually showed up SO many extra credit points. His commentary is hilarious and I love him.

The best econ professor I know...not, granted econ sucks but he makes it suck the least. You gotta work to get a good grade, but its macro, what you expect. He's got hilarious side commentary and you'll learn and lot. Just meet him half way and he'll meet you the other half.
