This isn't an easy class, he is a very tough grader. You basically have to agree and write exactly what he talks about on quizzes and midterms. Include detail or you won't even get points. NOT an easy class, wish I would've taken a different course.

He is a good professor. But if you are taking his class for just a letter grade rather than being invested into the material, then look elsewhere, because your motivation to read will slowly drop as he assigns more reading. On his quizzes, just add more detail that relates to the story and you are in good shape to pass his class overall.

Professor Toombs was an amazing lecturer and speaker. Afras260 was probably one of my top three favorite classes I've taken at state. Our in class discussions were very insightful and he is a fair grader.

HE CANCELED CLASS 3/4 of the semester. The last time we had a real class period was late September. His attitude towards students was poor, condescending, not helpful, and very mean. I felt discouraged & scared to ask for any help at all. He makes you write a 25-page essay with no help. I struggled the whole time. It was a mess. Very unorganized!!

Loved this class. Lectures are extremely interesting. Make sure you at least skim through the readings because he will call on you. The discussions are super interesting. Iclude lots of details on the quiz and you will be fine!

Such a great professor. His class isn't the easiest because you do need to read a lot but its definitely not difficult if you keep up with the readings. I loved this class and looked forward to attending(which is mandatory) overall. The quizzes were strictly graded but the midterm/final were pretty easy. They were based off of multiple prompts.

Dr. Toombs is a great professor. Attendance is mandatory. 5 quizzes,1 essay, midterm, and final; all written. He's a little strict with his grading, but as long as you include lots of details you will be fine. he does call on people so at least skim through the readings before class. lectures are extremely interesting, loved this class!

My first impression of Dr. Toombs was his flamboyant personality that he isn't afraid to show. He's funny and keeps the class entertained and opens to the floor to class discussion and oftentimes, sharing stories. There is a lot of reading and essay writing involved, but I learned so much from this class and I got a 20/20 on the first midterm.

Toombs is a great professor. I took his class to satisfy a requirement and it ended up being my favorite class of the semester. The readings are interesting, and you have to complete them in order to get a good grade. He really stresses on using specific examples from the text on all the tests (which are all written).

MAKE SURE YOU DO THE READING! He puts you on the spot a lot especially if he knows you didn't do the reading and he lead a girl to go talk to the district because he hardcore yelled at her because she asked if she could turn in her paper early. it was pretty dramatic. It's near impossible to ge an A on his essays and he picks favorites.

Toombs is okay. I took him last semester, and I actually stayed awake (most of the time). The only thing is that he's vague in instructions for projects. YOU BETTA ASK HIM WAT HE MEANS!!! Oh, but guess what? I NEVER READ A COMPLETE CHAPTER IN THE BOOK and got no lower than a B+ on all the quizzes. HERE ME WELL: LISTEN TO THE LECTURES!

This guy is a hard grader, He is a good teacher and passonate but the lit subject was hard for me. If you are a motivator, like lit and like to do hard papers take him. If you are like me that give a**** less about the subject, but just need to pass it avoid him,. you will work your butt off and his final is hard even though you use the book

I didnt hear anything about Dr. Toombs prior to taking his class but now that I have taken it, everyone says he isnt so good for 101 but great for upper division. Considering i havent had him for upper division, he wasnt a great teacher. He was vague and often time unclear...but he always kept me awake. However, i dont think i would want him again.

I enjoyed this class, he is very helpful with the papers and very clear with what he wants on it. He grades a little strict but it's fair. He has a great personality and very approachable. 3 quizzes (in story, poems etc..) 2- papers (longer and shorter essays) midterm and final (both written). I dont thinks he gay, he comfortable with his self.

Hated the class. Allows for some comments to be made that are ****, and should not have been allowed. Took it CR/NoCR so don't know what others grades were like. Has favorites.
