All of these people saying she's a hard grader and doesn't teach, clearly aren't trying enough in her class. Yes, Dr. Gradie is a hard professor, but she is also very sweet and approachable. She is always in her office for extra help. She made my SHU experience so much better!

Such a horrible professor. Talks the entire class and does not give any guidelines to exams or papers. Grades papers very harsh and does not change her mind. Always thinks she is right. Do not take her! She will make sure you end up with a bad grade and does not care

Do not take her. Read what others have said before, and it is completely true. All she does is talk the entire class and wonders why everyone fails the exams she does not give study guides for. She says, "Write a list on what you think is on the exam, and it probably is". She does not respond to emails, homework does not count. Good luck with her.

DO NOT TAKE HER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. She doesn't want anyone to pass. She's a super hard grader and doesn't teach you anything you have to rely on yourself to learn the material. She doesn't tell you what to review for tests and taking "notes" in class is her writing random words on the board. She assigns papers due within 2 days notice.

DO NOT TAKE HER FOR WESTERN CIV, She does little to nothing useful to prepare you for a test, she grades so unfairly even if you do exactly what she wants on a test & give her the right answer. She only giving notes from slideshows that are very unorganized. Choose a professor others say good things about & don't choose random & end up with her.

This class was extremely hard because she is such a tough grader. It wasn't the worst class but it is hard and you have to work for your grade. If you are upset with a grade you can go to her and she might change it. Always takes attendance. 2 papers and 3 tests. Tests are defining words but she grades it very hard.

She is a very tough grader unless she really likes you, the average grade for the first test of the whole class was a C-. My whole row in her class failed the first test. You have to teach yourself from the textbook the topics that she does not go over in her powerpoint lectures in class. Whats on the test is not completely what she had taught us.

Definitely would not take again. Very unclear and disrespectful toward students. Impossible to confront about issues (thinks she is always right). Found her to be very rude and favorited certain students. Find a different professor.

I did not like Professor Gradie at all. She is very belittling and expects the worse for her students, she's almost shocked if you got an answer right. She is very nit picky about everything and is an overall bad teacher and I would not recommend anyone to take Western Civ with her.

Professor Gradie is a very sweet woman. She's not as organized as she should be, but her class is in no way difficult. As long as you READ the books you should be ok. She gives a few papers based on books and a final and a midterm. Nothing too difficult. Help her stay on track by asking any questions. She won't move on until everyone understands!
