Comment:

Professor Holmes is a nice guy. He teaches as his retirement job. Overall, a fine teacher, but nothing extraordinary. Of course, it's accounting and finance in freshmen year, so it is somewhat difficult. Holmes is best in particular for Accounting and CFA Majors.

Comment:

Holmes is an eh professor. I had him for GB112 and decided to take him for GB212 because I already knew what his teaching style was like but I regret that decision. He is an okay professor, who is okay on grading. I was never thrilled about going to class but if you make a connection with him you should be okay.

Exams are impossible and the homework is just busywork. He's really nice and a great guy, but he's a little old and doesn't hear half of our questions. He pretty much reads off the slides and we learn nothing in class. I like him as a person, but if accounting is not your thing you might want to take a proff with better communicating skills

Kinda like my grandpa. He is very soft spoken but knows what he is talking about. He is helpful too.

Holmes is a nice guy, and he understands what he is teaching, but he does a poor job of communicating that to his class. Classes are long because he is either reading straight off the slides prepared by the department, or he speeds through them and fills the rest of the time with practice problems. Tests are impossible even if you're smart.

He is a great guy but at times the class would be SOOOOO long and drawn out and then all of a sudden he would rush through a powerpoint in 5 min. It is pretty hard to pay attention because his voice is monotone, but he is like a grandpa that really does care and is very nice. Like him as a person, not a professor

Okay, the guy is really nice, but does not teach a thing. I didn't learn a thing going to class each day and the only way i learned was pouring through the textbook and talking to friends. He was extremely quiet during lectures. Never does example problems in class, extremely rare to see a homework problem done. Next to impossible to pay attntion.

Holmes is a super nice guy, but he is really quiet and not very clear. The class wasn't to hard for me because I liked the material but for people who don't find it interesting or put in the extra work it can be very difficult. It doesn't help that Holmes grades difficultly and really nit picks.

Gordon Holmes is one of the nicest, most understading professors at Bentley Univesity. You will do well in his class if you actualy do the homework and go to office hours when you are confused. The course content is difficult, but he teaches the material in class and wants students to do well. Take this class!

Great teacher, really nice guy too. Most of the other ratings here are people who don't take advantage of how nice of a guy he is by talking to him/going to office hours, etc. Take him if you want a relatively easy GB and you should do well.

Terrible professor. Not only is he mono-toned and makes the class ridiculously boring, but he always collects the homework unlike other teachers, makes the tests nearly impossible not giving you enough time to finish. DONT TAKE. such a painful class

Holmes is a good man. Doesn't really teach, but is always willing to help if you do not understand concepts. Attendance is not really mandatory and homework is collected about half the time. Take him if you want an easier GB class and you'll probably get a 3.0 or higher.

People are right about him, he is a horrible teacher and puts you to sleep with his monotone voice. Once you recognize him say "and whatever", thats all you can concentrate on when he does say it. His tests are pretty hard and he is absolutely useless outside the classroom. One of the worst professors I have ever taken at Bentley. Avoid at all cost

Kinda looks like james woods, extremely picky,the class is terrible and it seems like he tries to find things to criticize in order to make the class seem important. He probably wasnt the best for this class.
