Her teaching was absolutely horrible she made me go to DSPS everyday for Tutoring and I failed so bad on the quizzes because of her plus the amount of homework was pathetic. More than half of the class was gone before I decided to drop the class with 4 weeks left in the semester before the deadline to drop the class

Worst teacher you could ever have, test are like 90% of your grade hw is only worth 5% I turned in every single homework, made up every single exam and did not miss one class. I tried so hard I spent hours studying and worst of all, she dropped over half the class and there was only 8 people left. Half of the 8 didnt pass. Good luck...

One of the best teachers I've had at COC. This is not a class that you can get an easy A in, but if you do all your homework, check your answers (get solution manual!), and review before test/quizzes you'll be just fine. She's a very kind lady, and really gets you to understand the material, I would strongly recommend her for Calculus 1

She has absolutely no structure to her lectures. She just goes through the book examples and just writes them on the board without explaining much. If you thought math was hard, be ready to teach yourself an entire book of calculus, because she doesn't.

Lectures are not very well structured. TLC workshops are required & heavily suggested as it will help. Homework and study guides will definitely help with tests. Gives answer keys to homework, study guides, and tests. She checks homework to make sure the problems are done and done correctly but does give chances to fix and return for partial credit

I am terrible at math, and Choate did not help this at all. I was unable to drop the class because of a contract I had with my high school, so I had to tough it out. I tried desperately. I went to the TLC, I had a tutor, I asked her for help, nothing helped. Please do yourself a favor and do not take her class unless you are already good at math.

Ms. Choate is a sweet kind lately that helps you understand the material. She gives assignments to practice for quizzes and exams, and if you complete them you will have no problem doing well in the class.

She gives you a ridiculous amount of homework that is hard to keep up with. Shes a very hard and meticulous grader. Does a horrible job explaining what we are supposed to do and has to have the work all done the way she wants it or it will be marked wrong. The person with the highest grade in the class has a C. Not a teacher I would recommend.

If you're someone like myself that struggles with math to begin with, this isn't the class for you. She's really nice but she gives a heavy amount of homework that feels like an eternity and her tests are had. I failed all of them and I had to drop it. It's the only class I've dropped at COC. Don't take her.

I am taking this class in Fall 2013. She goes off track too much also hates when people talk. She gives tons of homework but also gives you at least 1 week to do it all. There is about 6 tests and group quizzes that are very easy. She has students grade the homework. Those who grade receive extra credit. If you have no patients do not take her!

Professor Choate is an excellent professor. She helps with any questions if anyone ever has questions on the homework assigned from the prior day. She is sweet, and is definitely caring towards whether you pass or not. A lot of homework, but it is only beneficial at the end (given that you actually do it). I would definitely recommend.

Sad that I cannot take her calculus class anymore as she got retired. Heavy homework but it truly helps you to study calculus if you really solve each problem. I like her teaching method, even homework that honestly helped my studying of calculus.

Mrs. Choate is a great Math 60 professor. This was my second time taking this course and the first time the teacher was really vague. Mrs. Choate is great at teaching this course and took the time to explain in depth anything I did not understand. She is really sweet and amazing, but homework is priority and she expects it to be done daily.

Choate explains 060 as if we really are at an elementary level so it isn't that hard to grasp and she gives GREAT study guides. I'm just sad she isn't teaching 070 next semester. Those who say they do not like Choate do not pay attention and do not do their homework (which is daily). I recommend Choate for serious students.

thank gosh I knew algebra already because this class doesn't teach you correctly. She talks about irrelevant things that have no meaning. All she does is Give out a lot of homework. Don't take it if you know very little about algebra. I do not recommend.

Stupid. I didn't feel like I learned much of anything in this class. I didn't feel informed, she just rambles about random things all the time and is never very clear on anything. SO much homework, but she gives you good reviews for tests. Wouldn't recommend.

Took her for Calc 1. This is a Homework Heavy Class. You are required to do all the assignments or you will not pass the class. She was a very good teacher and easy to understand, you will learn a lot if you take her, but be prepared for it to take the majority of your time. I recommend her for anyone planning on continuing past calc 1.
