Comment:

Professor Hochberg is a tough grader, and her comments on graded assignments are unclear. She is very selective, old-fashioned, and opinionated. Personal meetings with her are more helpful, as she can be condescending if one brings up questions or comments in class. Some topics she discusses are very useful, but can be out of date.

She decides wether or not she likes you based on practically nothing and your experience will reflect that. Is not helpful doesn't care about extenuating circumstances. Old fashioned to the point of counter-productivity. Assignments are vague and include a lot of busy work redundancy. Will make students stay later than allotted block for class.

Personally I don't like her. She gave me a D in her class I'm guessing because I missed so much. Understandable. But she should've clearly outlined in her syllabus that my grade would literally drop if I missed class. It just said "grade would suffer" which i took to mean i wouldn't learn. BE CLEARER . not fair for the work I did.

I never really liked to draw but she made it bearable. She is much better than my drawing I professor who I couldn't stand. She really knows what she is talking about and I really respected her as a professor

Very nice teacher. She helps you out a lot and gives you projects that allow you to be creative. Very straightforward on what she expects. She likes you to show your style and abilities, but even if you cannot draw, she'll help you. However, don't let her use your stuff during demos with charcoal or pencil.

loved her. she's nice and teaches you alot. Critiques are helpful--she'll tell you exactly what she wants. She makes it easy to raise your grade by resubmitting your artwork. Shes annoying because she'll use YOUR art supplies for HER demonstrations. but I'd recomend her to anyone!

Lets be honest here folks. I, for one, cannot draw. However, take this class if youre unsure of your skills. She knows if you are trying hard and I think that means a lot to her. Its not the most fun class ever, but its something we all have to get through. Try hard, ask questions, and do well on the assignments!

I took Drawing I Fall '96 and Drawing II Sprint '97. Looking back I do not recommend Cheryl to learn how to draw from. While she is an accomplished artist herself, I found that her teaching (communication and demonstration) skills were lacking which is what I needed most in introduction courses.

Great teacher for beginners especially. She starts at the very beginning to make sure everyone is on the same page. There are only 4 homework assignments a semester which is very nice. Make sure you attend classes though- because you are sure to miss something- and she keeps close track too.

OK...this is how it is...This lady can teach plain and simple. She's not there to make friends with u, but she is an awesome teacher. If she's embarrased you its probably cuz you cannot draw, plain and simple (not that I'm approving that). Work hard, and she'll give you a good grade. If you love to draw and want to improve TAKE HER.

I personally loved her. She knows what your individual skills are, and will either credit you or dock you on your projects depending on whether you worked up to your potential or not. She expects from-life drawings to be very accurate, and if anything is off, she'll fix it for you and tell you why it was wrong. You'll learn so much in her class.

While taking the course many people don't like it. But in the end she turns out to be very helpful and u actually do learn a lot. Advise to everyone thought if u took her for drawing I it would probably be a good idea to take her for Drawing II, i'm taking Obrien and its all whole different style

I really cant stand this lady, she hated me all semester for no reason and that def. was said by the grade she gave me. She was goin to fail me but decided to give me a C idk maybe so she could sleep easier at night. DO NOT TAKE HER she is very boring and makes an ass out of you infront of the class

Hochberg allows redos on projects so she's fair. She's straightforward; tells you what's right or not. She isn't the most approachable prof. but asking for help in class makes it easier and she is helpful because she'll pinpoint exactly what's wrong so you can correct it. You will learn alot.

she'll tell you how it is. she doesn't really play favorites, because i've seen her embarrass "favorites" in class too. she knows what she's doing, and lays out the basics for you. one thing though: she's a morning person. gets harsher later

I hated this lady. She would make an ass out of you and erase your entire drawing that you worked on for 2 hours. Doesn't let you be creative. Will insult you in front of the entire class. Picks favorites. Pretty boring assignments.
