I think Professor Laz is a very intelligent person. She is very clear in what she expects from her students and makes her courses challenging, but also intriguing. Her chicken class is very well structured and informational, and as weird as it may seem, and it is a very interesting class overall.

Cheryl is an awesome professor. I've taken multiple classes with her (210, 300, 358) and she has a knack for making challenging material more accessible. She doesn't give any tests and gives extensive feedback on every paper you write for her so you can revise them. If you put in the effort, you will get an A in her classes, every time.

Professor Laz is the best professor I've had in an entire undergraduate career. She expects a lot from her students, but the no-penalty-if-not-done assignments she builds into each class schedule makes the workload manageable. If you're serious about learning, don't leave USM without taking a class with her.

Cheryl rocks! If you want to cruise by and not learn anything, don't take her class. If you want to really sink your teeth into a topic and come away with a real understanding, take all her classes.

Very controlling, it's her way or else. Doesn't think enough about what her students think or see, just what she does.

Great course. Cheryl will present you with challenges, but she is also very helpful. I felt that the workload in this course was very appropriate, and the subject matter was interesting. Cheryl did a great job with the lectures, and she's very open to students' questions and viewpoints. She provides many opportunities for students to succeed.

Prof Laz is one of the best professors I've ever had. She expects a lot but she grades fairly and always offers feedback and help. She really cares about students learning and succeeding. This was one of my favorite classes at USM. I'd definitely take another class taught by her.

This class was almost unbearable. I might have enjoyed it if it had actually been about sociology, a very broad field. Instead, it was all about food politics -- only. Everything was crammed into this one area, which I did not find very interesting. The pace of the lectures was a crawl, and the extremely tedious homework assignments were numerous.

I took this strictly to eliminate 2 common core requirements...phil. and writing intensive. I never expected it to be such a great class. I worked so hard, but learned so much. Great teacher, good feedback, actually reads your papers and gives valuable feedback. I got my monies worth. Take this class only if you want to learn something!

This Class made for a very long hour and 15 minutes. This professor does not know what she wants, or how to teach clearly. She is close minded, and is a waste of time and money. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH SOMEONE ELSE!!!

She was perhaps the best teacher I've had at USM. Very engaging teaching style, lots of work (it's a writing intensive, remember!), I can see how the work changed my writing for the better, great topic: Food. Great book:The Omnivore's Dilemma.Great class! I recommend her to anyone who wants to really work/learn.She's not mean, but not for slackers.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. One of the best classes I've taken at USM. My stimulated brain is on fire now. She's flexible, intelligent and incorporates ideas from every individual with ease and kindness. Classroom discussions were dynamic and intelligent. Maybe because only motivated students take a summer class? Highly Recommended.

I really do enjoy this class. There is a lot of work but it is work that really helps you reflect on what you are learning. I find her as a professor to be clear and concise, and open to everyones perspective. She is a nice lady and a great professor.

I was very disappointed in this class.I was hoping to learn critical thinking skills, not hear about the Professor's chickens and organica farming. Critical thinking was not practiced by the Professor herself.I agree with her politics, but felt it was inappropriate to use the class for a personal agenda. Take this class with someone else.
