Each class started with a music video, and the course was an amazing tour through the 80s--Reagan and Madonna and everything in between. Lectures with clear and FUN. I learned so much, and it was a great course. Best professor I've had at OU.

Comment:

Pach is very nice, intelligent & responded diligently to email messages. But, he made this class next to impossible to receive a good grade. Most students take this course for a history requirement. He graded the exams & the midterm paper (30% of grade) very harshly. I spent 9+ hours preparing for the exam & only managed to BARELY pass the class.

Amazing! He's one of the few professors I've had (outside my major/minor) who has really shown how much he cares for his students. He WANTS you to succeed, and you definitely won't just float through this class without trying. You have online assignments and papers to do but he lets you send him an outline. His lectures are so interesting and funny

Dr. Pach is the nicest guy at OU. He started the class with music and was funny and relatable. I wish I could take him for every class. He's very personable and helpful. I WANTED to go to class. I was sad a day I was sick and contagious and couldn't go. TAKE HIS CLASS

Comment:

Professor Pach was so incredible. His lectures were never boring and I actually always looked forward to going to his class. Because really the only grades were the midterm, final, and a large project you have to go to class to understand what he is talking about. But as long as you go to class, take decent notes, study a little, you'll be fine.

best history professor I had at OU! He knows so much. Lectures are also interesting with relevant images, videos, and music and you can tell he enjoys teaching! make sure to take good notes/do the readings because they will for sure be essay questions on exams. if you like US hist, or at least have some interest you will love any of his courses

Dr. Pach is the best professor I've ever had! He's so passionate about what he's teaching and he makes the content interesting for everyone. You need to go to class and do the readings, but he made it so enjoyable that I didn't mind going to class! I would take this class over and over again if that was an option. I would recommend him to everyone.

Pach is an amazing lecturer. He makes learning American history interesting with the information and videos he plays. I recommend typing his notes, he just talks so pay close attention. He writes the subheads on the projector so its easy to follow along. Him/the TA will let you know when there's a quiz coming and what will be on the exams.

He shows a lot of video clips during his lectures (which are awesome) and he makes the lecture easy to understand. He also puts a decent amount of bonus on his exams, but the quizzes were tougher. Overall I very much enjoyed his class and would for sure take one of his classes again!!!

I really enjoyed the class I took with Dr. Pach. He is so knowledgeable about the subject and is very good at communicating the information. He is a tough grader, but there's only a couple graded assignments in the class. It is really important to read the books he assigns as they make up large parts of the tests.

Dr. Pach is my favorite professor at OU. His lectures are laced with music and video which makes the entire class period entertaining - you will enjoy showing up to his class. He is so approachable and makes a real effort to get to know as many students as he can. He will go out of his way to help you. Brilliant Professor and a great class.

History of US Involvement in World Affairs is a great class. Not too difficult if you show up every day. Two exams, one paper. He's a bit of a tough grader, but not overly so. And his lectures are very entertaining.

Pach is the best lecturer I have ever had, he is passionate and inspiring. I am so sad I'm graduating and only just found out about him. I love 1960's history so maybe I am a little biased but this is one of the easiest and best classes I've ever taken. I honestly didn't want to miss class because I loved his lecture so much.

Comment:

Didn't like history until I took this class. Lectures are fun and videos are great. Pach also has a good sense of humor. He made a required course interesting. Do the reading, go to class, and you'll get a good grade. Well worth taking, especially if you have a US history requirement.

Comment:

Can definitely come off as mean sometimes, but he really has a love for history. Only talk in class if you have read the book & have a thoughtful opinion. If you show a genuine interest in history, he will really warm up to you. Only two tests, a final, & a seven page paper, but his grading is very fair. Learned a lot of new concepts from him.

Really liked this class. Pach is a terrific lecturer. He also has some great video, and he mixes in discussion. He gives out exam questions in advance, so it's not hard to get a good grade if you study. Take his class. You won't be disappointed.

Not a pleasant guy to say the least. I dreaded going to the class because it was so boring and he had unrealistic expectations. He makes you do everything over email and doesn't use blackboard which is also really annoying. I would have rather taken 12 credit hours than taken this class with him.
