Dr. Adler is very knowledgeable in his field. However, this makes his class very detailed and hard. As someone with musical background, the class was not too hard, but it is apparent that without such knowledge will have a more difficult time in the class. If you read and pay attention in class, you will be just fine.

LOVE THIS PROF! Took Music in World Cultures with him and loved his class. If you attend the classes and take notes, you'll be good. There were listening reports to hand in almost every other week, so expect to be writing for this! Overall though he's fair in grading and if you do what's asked, you'll do pretty good for the semester.

Professor Adler is a well accomplished musician and extremely well educated. I took this class to fulfill a core, not because I was interested in music being a potential career path. If you are taking this just to fullfill core and are looking for a GPA boost, this is NOT the class for you. Tests are extremely difficult. Right up there with Logic!

Professor Adler is very knowledgeable in his field. However, his class is not formatted in a way where you are rewarded for going to class. Quizzes are usually unannounced and I don't feel that going to class benefitted me much. Take only if you're a Music major. DO NOT recommend for non-music majors.

His classes are very dull but he tells you all you need to know for the exams and quizzes. Don't take this class if you're not planning on majoring in music. I took it for art history--no idea how that fit in. I took it for a GE and am now most worried about this grade out of all of my classes.

Adler does not understand that he is teaching a music 100 class which means it fulfills a GENERAL requirement i.e. not everyone is interested in the topic and are just taking it to get GE credit. This is not a class about actual music it is about people putting together sounds to make hideous noise. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS

Dr. Alder is amazing. He is a skilled musician and his passion and knowledge of the art world makes his teaching style interesting and engaging. We did a variety of things that made it really interesting and easy to follow along with. This class is cross-listed with Music and I an an Art Minor but could follow along!

He's an ok guy in a smaller class setting, and is incredibly skilled at music, but it's clear that his passion is composing "modern music" (sounds like a kid banging a piano). He teaches to pay the bills. Hard grader, but you definitely learn what you're screwing up on.

Professor Adler is clearly very passionate about what he is teaching, however his love for the subject does not transfer over to his teaching abilities. As a non art major, this class was almost impossible to understand and not what i expected at all. The works we listened to were unbearable to sit through and Adler's grading is way to hard for a G

Dr. Adler is genuinely one of the best professors at the USD. The redeeming factor of the music program, he is truly passionate about what he teaches and is extremely knowledgeable. He requires hard work and low ****, but trust me it's wroth it.

I took his Intro to sound art class. This guy is way into this stuff. He gets all giddy about weird sounds and noises and has the audacity to call it music. I think it is useless noise and a sign for you to get a life. Real music is a concert that leaves you deaf with a bad hangover. His class was WAY to hard for what it is. DO NOT TAKE!!!

Dr. Adler is a nice guy but this class was far more difficult than it should have been. If you don't mind listening hours on end trying to decipher between different recordings, I suggest you don't take the class. Not impossible, but I'd avoid it if you can.

He's a great professor. He takes time to explain things, and he's really cool just to chat with during class. I have to admit that when I first had him for harmony I didn't like him. But once you get to know him he's totally awesome.

He was the reason I survived my first team taught! He is super smart and understands not just music, but also math-he had to correct Dr. McGrath a lot. He is a great teacher, but you have to agree with his point of view on the composers or you'll get docked a little on your essays, which sucks.
