This course is contracted through a website so Dr. Craig is not very involved. The online work is very easy but time consuming, and make sure you actually learn the material bc the final is in-person and 55 percent of your grade.

His passion for the subject is contagious. He wants all of his students to do well and tries his best to answer all the questions. He operates the class by assigning some text to read. Once the next class rolls around, he reads through the text with the class answering any questions. 1 paper, 3 tests, and a recitation from memory in Latin (ez tho.)

Dr. Craig is passionate & is very knowledgeable in classics - great teacher. HOWEVER, if u do not absolutely love classics DO NOT take this class. There is tons of reading per class w/ journal entries for each one. Its hard to keep up w/ the reading & retain as much info as u need to for the tests. The tests are hard. This class is tons of work.

Overall as a teacher and person he means well. And he tries to help you if he can but in my case I failed the first test and then tried my hardest for the second test and STILL failed. Unless you can memorize everything don't take this as a gen ed UNLESS you have to! He is very interesting and funny but can also be rude at times! Go luck and read!

If you're not good at memorizing you better get one of those study accounts and look at old exams. Went to every class and still only passed 2 exams. Read the BB lectures if you dont use study accounts. Buy the books and highlight what he reads off. It'll help when it comes to exam time. Don't take for gen ed unless you really love this stuff.

Absolutely amazing professor! As long as you do the work (& memorize his notes), it's a pretty easy A. It does take a bit of time, too. I was mediocre at writing the paper. However, this class takes a GREAT DEAL of memorization of notes and story quotes. If you don't read the notes, you will fail. He likes taking small details & put it on the test

The lectures take forever and most of the time really pointless. He gives you the lecture notes after class on BB but you have to memorize them to pass the exams. The lay out of it is average of 4 exams- 50%, 1 paper- 15%, Final- 20%, Journals- 15% but the journals are the same score as your average exams or final.

One of my favourite professors at UT. He's wickedly smart, and he genuinely wants you to learn, so he'll make you work hard. However, he's always available and ready to help. Classes are mandatory, and all assignments are vital.

He loves mythology, which makes the class easier. The tests are easy as long as you read EVERY reading he assigns. The assigned reading isn't bad, but it is easy to get behind on. There is one paper, and he grades very fairly on it. The journals are super easy, just about a paragraph or so long each week. Also, read the supplementary notes on BB.

I was so excited to take this course at the beginning of the semester because I love history and I'm very good at it however, I wish that I had never taken Greek Mythology. Tests are very detailed and journal grading is not fair at all, especially if you don't do well on tests. This is a gen ed course but its very difficult. Stay away.

Dr. Craig is awesome. Simply as that. He's hilarious, very smart, and loves what he does. Attendance is NOT mandatory, but if you want to do well then definitely go to his lectures. He makes them very interesting and is always telling us stories and making students laugh. I would definitely take him again if I could.

He's an arrogant, rude professor that is super strict when it comes to tests and assignments. His grading for small assignments like journals isn't very fair either. No matter how well written your journals are, he will only grade them the same as your highest test grade - to some people's detriment. Also, no make ups for tests whatsoever.

Unless you want to study everyday and are EXTREMELY into this topic, take literally ANYONE else. This is a GEN ED class and he openly states that he hates when people think they can take it as just a gen ed. I am a pre-med student who had a 3.9 before his class. He tests over things that only someone who has studied the books for years would know.

I knew that studying would be a must for this class but he tests you on the most minor details that it makes studying nearly impossible. I studied for 2 weeks for the final. I made study guides and outlined the chapters and I still didn't know half of the test. He is also very rude and condescending to his students.

Ive found Latin to be very challenging and have struggled dreading class all through the first year but Dr. Craig is one of the best teachers Ive had at UT. He really cares about his students and does a very good job at explaining the latin. Like other latin classes you have to put in the time and studying but Dr. Craig will push and support you.

Dr. Craig's online work was okay but don't BS it when it comes time to the final. I made a 77 on final and got B+ in class. The online work is for completion. The final is like the final comp. at the end of online work.

Don't be fooled, this class is by no means an "easy A." It takes a lot of work and you must master the quotes and the material. That being said, Dr. Craig is an entertaining professor and if you are struggling he is very helpful and willing to work with you to help you grasp the concepts. If you take this class be prepared to work hard.
