The class was not what I thought in that conservation was emphasized. But it ended up being really cool and I now have a tool I can use for my own home. Lots of heat transfer and energy topics for buildings. Wasn't until later in the semester that we covered wind turbines, biofuels and a few other topics. I liked Kobus way better in person than onl

Excellent. excellent lectures. Answers questions fully and loves talking with students. Always around. Have to keep up on the material or it becomes tough. Use his office hours and listen to what he requires. Gives lots of feedback. Tough course, but excellent professor that obviously loves to teach this

Best professor i've ever had. I'm considering switching to ME just to take more of his courses. Taking his course is a life changer, just make sure you arent doing much else that semester, it is very difficult.

Probably one of my favorite professors ever, but also the hardest. His class was very interesting, I feel like I will be able to apply a lot of what I have learned. You won't know your grade until the end which sucks, but as long as you put 10+ hours in a week you'll be fine.

Toughest grader you'll ever have, but you will learn loads. Tons of 'supplementary' material (extra lectures) that you will be expected to watch outside of class. Obviously passionate about his work, good guy overall.

Amazing lectures! As an EE I learned a great amount from Kobus. He made sure to put in a lot of EE examples like electronics cooling when covering heat transfer. If you keep up on the work, it should be no big deal. Most dont and they struggle exactly as Kobus told us. Wish he was an EE prof so I could take again

Pretty unorganized so it seems that to catch the gaps in understanding he floods you with too much information- 2 hour in class lectures (he records & posts), links to multiple previous semester's 2 hour lectures, like 8-10 hours of material and no clear idea what info (and from where) will be on the quizzes. Good luck...

Dr. Kobus is a very good professor. He doesn't fit your typical mold (he played on the club football team the year they won a national championship). He is flexible, didactic, predictable in what he expects, and willing to work with you on extensions. A word to the wise, the lab reports for 250 are extensive. Learned a ton from the reports

Kobus is one one of the smartest guys I have ever met, and he is passionate about his job. EGR 250 is most definitely a weeder class. Quizzes are detailed, so study every line of your notes. Homework can be difficult but he's always there to help. As for labs, start them early. Make an honest effort in his class and you will do fine.

Best pure teacher I have ever had. Literally comes in with a webcam and nothing else. Entire class from top of his head. He knows the material and fully answers all questions. Loves to talk fluids. A LOT. Hard time stopping class on time lol. Keep up on the material, don't fall behind and you will be fine. Records and posts all lectures :)

Hardest class I've ever taken in my life. But I learned more than any other class in my life. He knows the material backwards and forwards and loves to answer questions. Don't skip class. If you do, watch his lectures. He records them all and posts them which is helpful. Can talk forever though. Obviously loves to teach and is good at it, but there

Literally the hardest class I've ever taken. His lectures are long, he assigns HOURS of extra "additional lectures" to watch that you must watch because there's a quiz every lecture. The quizzes are so in depth and tough. Homework is hard, but graded for effort. That's the only free points. Labs are hard and graded very hard. Will never take again.

Dr. Kobus is a great lecturer, but an awful instructor. He does not answer emails, gives quizzes every class period, and there could be up to 3 homework assignments in a week. The grading is very hard. The students also had to read a book about learning how to study, and how the mind works. The class is thermodynamics.

To start off, Dr. Kobus is a very good teacher and you will not regret taking him. EGR 250 is a difficult class in general, so any lack of "easyness" isn't really his fault. He lectures very well and gives a quiz every class period and a final exam, instead of having a few big mid terms and a final, but I also took the condensed summer course.

ME454 is a waste of time. I did alright in it but unless you want to learn about wind mills and solar power, do not take it. The teacher is cool and probably fun to have a beer with, but I think he does these online classes so he doesn't have to do much. Should have taken a beneficial elective rather than an easy A.
