Chris is a nice guy but in my experience more than have the class has no idea what he means when he goes on his rants. Their if 4 tests and a participation grade, show up to class write everything down no matter how much you think it doesnt matter. He assigns hours of reading but goes over everything you need to know for tests in class. Open notes

This class was the worst thing i have ever had to sit through. He makes absolutely no sense. Do not take his class. He rambles on the whole class about irrelevant things and then tests you on it. Nothing made sense.

Worst class I've ever taken. This guy is the definition of a lunatic. His teaching style is very unconventional and he rants on and on all class about things that could be covered in a few minutes. I'm an A student, but I got a C in this class! Do NOT take this class. Seriously, do everything in your power to get out of it. You've been warned.

Honestly this guy makes absolutely no sense, but it's okay because as long as you write down EVERYTHING (and I mean EVERYTHING. Even if it doesn't seem important: write it down) he says you'll be fine because he lets you use your notes on all the tests. Also one time we counted how many times he said "alright" in one class and it was 657 no joke

He is a very nice, funny, and fun man. He is very different. You have to answer different questions and they will be on tests. Make sure to write down even the most unexpected things such as: "What did I say not to do the first day of class?" You have to do the readings he assigns and participate. You need to think like him. Adapt to his thinking.

Alright. Let's get into this. Alright. So, alright, he likes to, alright, say this one word, alright, quite a lot, alright. Even though his specialty is English, alright, he has horrible speaking skill, alright? He's a nice guy though. Alright?

ADVICE: He wants you to read for about 3-4 hours on average before every class, but 90% of the information he wants you to read is useless. He only tests on the things he talks about during class, and they're open notes. So if you write down everything he says, except for the 634 times he says "alright" (yes, i've counted), you'll pass.

Honestly, early in the semester i didn't understand what to do in his class but his exams were open book so i took notes on everything. Thats really all u have to do to pass his exams. Participation can also change your grade from a C to a B. ask questions he's always willing to help his students understand. Also make friends so u can trade notes

AWFUL professor. His lectures do not make sense at all. I attended every class and wrote down everything he said and still barley passed. he goes off topic a lot and often talks about the same thing: land, movement, and technology. thats it. Discussions are very boring and his tests are super specfic so make sure you write everything down.

AWFUL professor. Lectures the entire 80 minutes with no slides or power points to read from. Tests are very VERY difficult. I read the readings and wrote everything he said in class WORD FOR WORD and still got D's on the exams. 3 grades all semester, exam 1 exam 2 and exam 3. No chance to raise your grade if you do poorly on first exam. DO NOT TAKE

Rarely writes on board or send slides to view. Most of this class is about reading, and participation. Take notes on everything he says ( or what you think could be related to class) because you might just miss something important that he puts onto his tests. It's open-note test, so take good notes.

While I learned film theories which is a big part of the class, I felt lost when it came to Native American (NA) culture. I hadn't studied NA culture before so I couldn't make the connections I wanted to. For the future I believe the professor should have material on NA culture and practices required for the class. It would really help students

You have to write down everything that he says, if you miss a minute there will probably be a question from there on the test.

Most people don't like his class because they don't want to pay attention but as long as you listen to him, take notes and do the reading his class it's an easy grade you just have to do your work. He also has a great personality he is always making jokes and even if you're wrong during a class discussion he is nice about it.

I had a terrible class experience with this professor. His instructions were very confusing, random, and easily misled, plus he had us read and study a lot of textbook material before we had to take these hard quizzes for about every single class session. And he only wanted things done his own way, no one else's. So my advice-DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.

Chris LaLonde is a fantastic professor, once you understand his teaching style. Many people would disagree, but as long as you write down what he's saying, "skim" the readings at most, and show up to class to participate, you will be fine. Super easy A, and you have all the notes in front of you for test and final...doesn't get better than that!

I thought he was a terrible teacher. Absolutely scattered brained, not helpful at all, and very confusing. The class in general was dull, and his teaching did not help. I would not recommend him at all.
