I really like how passionate Dr Travis is with teaching But if you're like me who doesn't enjoy being randomly chosen for participation, maybe seek a different professor His exams are relatively easy if you study ahead of time He absolutely will assign homework at the last minute, so beware of that This class isn't too challenging if taken seriously

Dr. Travis makes you work hard in & out of class, but it's only because of his clear passion for the content.

Very passionate about Spanish, especially Latin America. Really tries to relate today's issues to what we learn in class. Goes above and beyond the book to really teach students in depth about the Hispanic culture and the important issues countries have faced in the past and also issues they are facing today.

I actually took Dr. Travis for three different courses (SPN301 and 305 and WL209), because the way he teaches is how a college classroom should be. He'll help you immensely to head in the right direction, but he wants you to be the one to achieve success, not just receive a grade. One of the most genuine professors I've ever had.

Taking World Lit 209 with Dr. Travis was a chance to see truly how much he loves what he's teaching. There's nothing better for a student than a teacher who loves the content and will stop at nothing to help you better understand it. Dr. Travis really sets you up for success, just be sure you're ready to apply yourself to achieve that success.

Dr. Travis is incredibly personable and easy to work with, and his passion for the material that he teaches is unmatched. He made Spanish so easy, but he still believes in a fun yet challenging class environment. He's also an accomplished author and athlete, so you may be able use up some class time if you ask him about his life accomplishments ;-)

It was because of Dr. Travis that I decided to declare a second major in Spanish. His passion for the language and drive to learn more was very inspiring to me. His study abroad opportunities are also AMAZING so if you have the chance to do so with him, DO IT! He is extremely adventurous and encouraging. He also wrote me an awesome letter of rec!

INCREDIBLE PROFESSOR! Dr. Travis changed my life for the better. SPN 301 was the first Spanish course I took at Elmhurst College. Yes, I was very intimidated, but Dr. Travis was very understanding of every students' level and was available for extra help when I asked. I may have received a B+ in his course but I was challenged to perform my best!

If you don't have to take his class, then don't because you'll regret it. And make sure you know either someone who knows or speaks Spanish because if you don't, you will struggle.

Latin American Literature. Quizzes: tests on the authors' bio info. Tests: identify the name of a story and author from a 1 sentence that could be taken from anywhere in the text--worst part. Online class was last updated in 2004 . Online quizzes w/ questions w/ wrong answer email him about it, but he may not fix your score Don't take him!

Not accessible at all outside of class. Sends you the links to the homework late at night and expects you to have it all done still. Randomly picks on people for participation.

Will assign homework the day before it is due and tons of it. Truly has forgotten what being a full-time student is like. Does not respect the fact that a student has other classes to worry about and there's no way to get ahead in the workload of his class because he assigns everything last minute.

Not even halfway through the semester but I wish I would've listened to the bad reviews. No syllabus until AFTER the drop deadline, 4+ hours of hw a DAY no way to get ahead on hw, unorganized, goes past class time. Truly doesn't think people have a life outside of his class. He doesn't even understand HIS OWN ASSIGNMENTS. Cool guy but I can't

I honestly dreaded going to his classes even though I was a dean's list student. He sends homework assignments at the last minute and updates the syllabus as the classes go along. He is unresponsive with most emails, and is not really accommodating to student schedules for outside help. I learned a lot though, but try to avoid taking him.

Dr. Travis is great. He's definitely a more dynamic professor, expect change in the scheduling, he is flexible and will work with you and your schedule & accept late assignments. He wants to see quality and that you are learning. He's passionate about his course material and loves when you participate and engage. He's a fun, intelligent guy!

Honestly, Spanish 102 is expected to be easy, but Dr. Travis makes it even better. He is really cool and funny throughout class. He makes sure the students understand the material, and if the class is moving too fast, he'll slow it down. He cares so much about his students and their learning, and it's definitely evident. If you can have him, do it.

Nice guy, but acts like you are only taking his class and have no life outside of it. Sends homework assignments at the last minute and even adds homework after. Does not answer your emails. A LOT of presentations. Unclear rubrics, instructions, and homework questions. Decent grader. Cool topicsreadings, bad professor. Have to work hard for A's!

This class was probably one of the hardest classes I have taken. Way too much material to read but one would think you are taking a history class instead of a literature class! Most of the point come from the quizzes and discussions. There has to be a better way...
