Comment:
This professor does not have a good way of presenting her lectures. She slyly inputs her political opinion into her lectures which is not ideal (liberal). She simply stands in front of the class to lecture - no powerpoints, no outlines, no nothing. You just sit there and attempt to absorb the dry, useless information she presents to you.

Comment:
If you want a good test grade, reading is inevitable. Take good notes, half of questions come from lectures. Content is interesting, but may not line up with everyone's political viewpoints. She encourages participation/ discussion, but will correct you when necessary. Assessments are easy ways to keep a good grade and extra credit is given.

I hate her class. Her lectures are long, she rambles, and it's boring. She doesn't use powerpoint so you have to read the book. She expects you to read outside of class and gets mad when you don't want to talk. If you don't have to take her class, don't do it. I'm miserable in there every Monday and Wednesday.

If you do not have to take this class, I would say stay away. The content of the course was very interesting and I learned a lot, but what she expects out of students is ridiculous. Get ready to read a lot! She doesn't believe in giving a study guide and expects you basically memorize the book. Attendance is taken so go to class or you will fail!!

Comment:
This class is such a waste of time. She is the most opinionated professor ever. SO much reading, refuses to give study guides for a "4000 level class", and does not prepare you for the test. Papers are ridiculous and have little guidance. If you don't need the class, don't take it. She doesn't care about her students.

This course should not be a full class. We kept returning to the same thing. It should be a 2 week unit in the contemporary social issues class. Secondly, if you are a tree hugging liberal, this is the class for you.

I'm getting a B+ right now. No study guides. No key points on the board, doesn't use the document reader. It's hard to take strong notes. YOU WILL USE THE BOOK. Most of the tests are straight from it. There are random pop quizzes. I went into the semester excited about this class. Now I struggle to make myself go. BETTER SOCI PROFESSORS HERE!

Dr. Reiser's lectures are boring and very hard to pay attention to, making it difficult to take good notes. Her tests are based on in class material and on chapters in the book. She assigns out of class assignments and if they're not done exactly how she expects you'll get half credit. Overall she's one of the worst professors I've had at ECU.

Too much information and very boring. Taking notes in class is very important but will not prepare you for the test at all. Tests are very hard and no study guide. I do not suggest this professor.

She is a very nice lady, but her work is very demanding. She gives too many articles that are 15-25 pgs long most of the time and then give you books to read on top of that. She does not give study guides or right key points on board. She is all lecure and discussion. She expects you to know the material and will call on everyone if no one answers.

Comment:
The work load in this course is ridiculous. This is a freshman level course and I have more work to do in here than I do in my junior level courses. She requires a chapter (sometimes 2) per class, a whole novel, various (feminist) articles on BB, AND a 5 page paper. NOT a reasonable course load for a 1000 level course. (rate cont'd from prev rate).

She is the MOST opinionated teacher I have ever had or heard of. She is an extreme feminist that bluntly forces her biased opinion into every boring lecture. She mixes in test-material into her rambling so you have to listen as there are no written notes. She is not helpful, especially with fixing test grades. Great for feminists, BAD for all else.

She is extremly boring. She just talks and talks and talks about random stuff. You have to listen to her though because some of the random stuff she says she puts on her exams. She doesn't do powerpoints or do notes so you have to write down and listen to what she says. If I had to to go over again, I wouldn't of taken this class with her.

She's so boring. I made sure everyday during this class I would get the East Carolinian so I wouldn't be so bored. She rambles and thinks the things she talks about are interesting. No notes you just kind of have to pull whatever you think is important from what she says. Tests aren't hard if you listen and study. I don't recommend her at all!!!!!!

So I took this class as an elective expecting it to be a fun and interesting class- well it wasn't. Mrs. Reiser was very boring- all she did was talk. There were never any powerpoints, hardly ever any notes- so when it came to test time, it was all about her talking- no notes, no study guide, nothing. I really wouldnt recommend this teacher at all
