As long as you attend discussion and office hours, you will definitely pass. Her sample exams are similar to the actual exam. Drake is very kind and willing to help you, however, she is a bit disorganized and doesn't have the most "exciting" lectures. She's just a little old fashioned! A semi easy A to help balance your gpa :)

Professor Drake is very good at what she teaches and is very passionate about the subject. That being said, STA 13 is a very uninspiring class, and it is easy to get lost as a result of boredom. Drake's class had many group projects and group presentations, but overall the class was super easy to get an A in. Also, she's super nice!

Honestly probably one of the worst professors I've had at Davis. Lecture is really confusing, as if she's never ever tried to refine her teaching technique and she really has no awareness of how well she's communicating and teaching to her students. Prepare to self-teach the class to yourself.

Professor Drake was not a good lecturer. She reads off of her powerpoints, and doesn't give examples to help you understand the concept. Focuses entirely too much on R. She responds to emails very quickly though and tries to help you if you don't understand something on the homework. Overall, she's approachable but doesn't teach well.

Drake is a very nice lady who wants to spend her time researching instead of teaching. Bad lecturer. Uses an i-clicker like phone app to take attendance, but you can answer from home if you pay attention. Assigns a lot of homework that you'll have to teach yourself how to do. Lots of partial credit on tests. Class average is probably 75%.

This was my first stats class. Professor Drake is nice and helpful if asked specific questions about homework, projects, lectures, etc. However, she does not explain topics well and mostly reads lecture slides. Be prepared to figure out things alone and teach yourself. Use office hours too.

Horrible lecturer. She is very unorganized and spends too much time going over and proving the most basic information that will not help with the hw. If it were not for the TA, Justin, I would probably have failed. Tests are very straight forward. As long as you do well on the practice test, you'll do fine on the actual exams. No curve balls.

She's a nice lady, but her lectures do not prepare you whatsoever for the insane difficulty of the homework. She doesn't prepare you for exams adequately. She quizzes you periodically in class using a system called Top Hat, but the questions, like the lectures, do nothing to prepare you for exams. Would not recommend.

Ahh Christina Drake.. She can't teach to save her life. Her lectures were long, boring, and uninformative. I dreaded them. She made everyone buy TopHat so that attendance was mandatory and she assigned graded HW problems out of the newest edition of the textbook (Older versions had different problems). On the other hand the class was painfully easy

Drake is obviously extremely knowledgeable of stats. Can't teach if her life depended on it. Lectures were extremely unorganized, unclear, and unhelpful. Homework wasn't too bad. She used Top Hat to ask questions in class, so you couldn't skip class. Avoid Drake unless you like teaching yourself. Group project was graded easy but felt pointless.

I've been using rate my professor for over 2 years and have never been compelled to write a review about a professor. However, Drake was such an awful professor that I felt as though I needed to warn others. The class is quite simple until the final. She does an awful job preparing you for the final, I went from an A to a C! Don't take her!

1 midterm. 5 HWs. A project. 1 final. In-class questions. She is very knowledgable about stats, but her lectures are sometimes unclear in explaining the concepts/formulas. Read the textbook and ask the TAs for help when needed, they're more clear. Not a terrible a prof, but you need to put in a bit more work to understand stuff. Grades r curved.

Prof Drake is a nice person and wants to make the material interesting and comprehensible. The problem is she doesn't do the best job of it. Although there are lecture notes, they're often semi-unorganized and hard to follow. Lectures got pretty excruciating at times. But the material is interesting and I got to know her a little better through OH.

I highly recommend avoiding this professor. Hw is needlessly long and lectures are unclear, disorganized, and unhelpful. By far the worst Professor I have encountered here.

She teaches the class as if you've taken more than just an intro stats course, despite the prereqs. She's not very clear, doesn't explain high-level terminology and doesn't teach the interpretation of statistics very well. Barely teaches you the homework material. Speaking of homework, she assigns way more than is reasonable.

I took her over the summer the summer and the class wasn't too bad. Her lectures at times were a bit unclear, but going to discussion helped clear up many things. The midterms were exactly like the practice ones she gave out. The paper you have to write is also graded very easily, most students got a 100 on it.

Lectures are unclear, disorganized, and completely unhelpful. First class where I felt studying independently for the same amount of time spent in class would have been a better use of my time. First exam pretty much duplicate of the practice exam. Final harder but still fair. EASILY graded term project, everyone got 100%

The lectures were useless. The professor was very unorganized, unclear, and confusing. She would skip all over the place and didn't completely work out examples. Read the book and focus on the practice exams, they were very similar to her exams. HW is graded heavily point by point, but the term project is graded lightly. Get a good TA. No curve.

I agree with the rest of the comments that Drake was extremely unclear and her lecture/textbook were HORRIBLE. However, this class was not too difficult. If you did the HW a couple times, the midterm and final were a piece of cake. Term project made absolutely no sense but very easy on grading. No curve. LEARN HOW TO USE CALCULATOR(life saver).
