If your German is not already very good, don't take this class. You will get little help, lots of tests.

Rethink taking German at this school. Summers will literally spend half the class talking about random non-important things in English, do one activity from the book in class, and then assign pages of homework on the unit she was supposed to go over in class but didn't bother to. You basically are expected to teach yourself at home.

This was a truly fun class. Lots of class discussion and movies that were enjoyable and her goal is to just expose you to different types of literature. One big presentation project that was pretty simple and two papers but otherwise everything else was just showing up to class. She is fun and is so exact with what she is looking for, she is great!

Very easy class to take. If you do the work and show up to class you will do fine. The only problem i have with her is that she does not give above 95% because "nobody's perfect". What she doesn't understand is that in America GPA is taken so literally and the difference between a 90% and a 100% on a transcript is huge!!! That's my only issue.

Professor Summers really knows her stuff. She's very nice and always willing to give extra help. Classes are extremely discussion and teamwork based, so beware if you're more introverted. The class has 5 assigned novels, so be sure to manage your time with them wisely. There are papers and a big group project as well.

this class has a lot of busy work, so keep up with the readings. if you keep up with the readings, you will for sure get an A. she loves class discussion, so come to class with an opinion on what you read the night before. also, the few papers that you write for her class are strictly YOUR point of view and thoughts. i definitely recommend.

She takes attendance everyday, so this isn't a class you should really skip (even though the class is boring and just small group discussion.) Don't bother to buy the books. Do all the work and it's an easy A.

It is ALOT of reading for her class. and classes are SO boring because all you do is sit in small groups and talk about the reading. But she is an easy grader. ITS BETTER TO KEEP UP WITH THE READING INSTEAD OF BLOWING IT OFF! because the final had questions about everybook on it and you had to read the book to be able to answer the questions.

I took this class during J-term and didn't have any problem with it. There is nothing wrong with her as a teacher--she's really friendly, and even though the course requires a great deal of reading, small group discussions and projects make it more bearable. She isn't picky about grades, either, so long as you're coming to class and doing the work.

Contrary to what another reviewer said here, I think Summers is very interested in teaching and making you really think hard. It's a LOT of reading, but the class itself is fairly easy. She's friendly and runs a class that's reasonable and pretty interesting, considering the course material. She's not a tough grader at all, which is a big plus.

She skips class on a regular basis, and has no concept of grading. Even though there's at least one or two assingements every week, she never returns anything graded untill the end of the semester. Very un-interested in actually teaching anything. She's interested in the material, but not in actually teaching it. Avoid this blow off course.
