Comment:
The content he teaches is way behind the curve in archaeology. The stuff he believes in is at least 50 years behind everyone else. He also likes to tell a lot of stories, a lot related to his digs that arent likely to happen. Hes an easy A if youre not a major but if you are be careful with the tall tales hell tell.

Comment:
He assigns readings from expensive textbooks, but he never referenced them in class. His grading expectations are unclear, and his essay topics are vague. He never seems to be completely prepared for class, but he is a really knowledgeable guy. He knows the field well, and is great to chat with, but he isn't a great professor.

Comment:
His grade expectations were absolutely ridiculous. For example, for our final, we could only talk about a specific period, and told us to study everything. Terrible lectures, terrible class, do not take this class. Take it from someone did everything he asked and still did horribly.

He is really easy in terms of grading. Lectures are long and boring. Attendance is not taken. Tests are easy as long as you put in some time.

Prof. Maggidis is a very easy professor and a great storyteller, which can make lectures engaging or sleep-inducing since he prefers to teach in the mornings. He is very charming, but will not take personal interest in students even though he seems to. He taught my Senior Seminar that Minoans traveled to Michigan to mine copper in the Bronze Age.

Engaging, passionate. His exams are simple but you must study.I was not a major and i got B's on the tests and an A on the paper. Looking around, I saw that i got one of the best grades on the paper even though i was a freshman in a 200 and one of 3 non majors in 30+ class. If he knows you are trying and are interested he will reward.

He's so Greek and so proud! Sometimes he gets a little carried away and starts to write in Greek on the board, but he always catches himself. He's an intelligent guy and loves to answer questions, but he tends to be repetitive, so not many questions need to be asked. He'll definitely go over the same material three times, at least.

Nice guy but very unhelpful when it comes to preparing for exams. Expects everyone to know everything about Greece already...lots of memorization of dates and art/artifacts. boring.

A very friendly and engaging professor. His class is about as interesting as it can be, given the subject matter, certainly more interesting than most other ancient art/history classes. He's funny too, if you like his humor. If you want a nearly effortless A, this is your class. Attendance is not mandatory, and the tests are so easy it's a crime.

Maggidis is a nice guy, no doubt about it. His class, however, I found to be extremely dull and fell asleep through all the classes... the exams aren't that hard unless you fall asleep in class alot, something that is somewhat a challenge.

I really enjoy Prof. Maggidis and have had him in several Arch. classes. I find his exams to be pretty easy and he grades easy enough on presentations. My only complaint is that, if you've taken Greek Art & Arch, don't take Prehistoric Aegean A&A its practically the same stuff.

A really nice guy, but his class was quite difficult for me. He makes it seem like everything is a breeze, but he takes points f/ little things on exams like it's his job. I also agree that ARCH majors are given an advantage in his grade book. Study really hard for exams, including all the tiny details, because they WILL BE ON THE EXAM.

His claim is that nothing will be on the exams that he hasn't taught and he means it. In two of the classes I've had with him, the midterm has been a slide presentation - really easy. He loves the subject and clearly enjoys teaching. Be prepared to do a presentation sometime in the semester.

Repeats things endlessly, which makes it hard to stay awake, but very easy to ace exams. Definantly plays favorites, so make sure you are a major and in love with Greece before you take his class.

Sorry about those bitter kids, they never recieved a C before and don't know how to take it. Yeah it might be repetitive but its not all bad. Its a shame some people come on here to rag on profs...their criticism is so extreme its worthless.

Someone send this greaseball back to Athens. He gives the same lecture 30 times a semester, is unclear regarding due dates, and plays favorites with grading. If you want anything above a C, you better sign that Archaeology declaration form.

He is unclear in all his assignments and determines grades based on whether he likes you are not. His lectures are repetitive and his class is pointless. Avoid his classes and save yourself 75 minutes of time twice a week.
