I'm a premed major with a 4.0.. DO NOT underestimate this class. I don't know what these people are talking about, lab is impossible! I got all A's in lecture and even a 100 on the second test (studied for like a straight week) Still ended up with a C in lab! Lab quizzes r impossible and hardest graded I've ever had! Still got an A but barely!

The best lecturer I've had in a while. He doesn't take attendance but his (3) tests are lecture based. If you take good notes, you probably won't need to look at the book. He can admit when he doesn't know the answer to a question, which is rare for a lot of teachers.

Took this class for my Biology minor. I am terrible at biology and going in I knew it would be a struggle, but I did alot better than I thought. Dr. Briand has some dry lectures, but hearing him explain every bit of information is CRUCIAL. His exams are all fill in the blank, no work bank, all from memory. You must go to class! He is very helpful.

Dr. Briand is one of the best professors to get at Salisbury in my opinion. He's understanding and laid back, all the tests are from the slides, all the slides are online (but attendance is very useful). In labs, he will answer any questions, and explains very well. If you get help and ask questions you could easily get an A

Do not take this professor, he shows no sympathy if you are ill especially when having Doctors notes to prove it. He was not helpful during office hours and his exams were all fill in the blank. Your grade are only exams and your lab grade is based on the class quizzes. No attendance was taken or homework was given. One of my worst instructors!

Best biology professor at SU. I can honestly say I stopped going to class after the first two weeks just because it was a morning class. I went to every lab and had close to 100% in it, but you have to study for that. Lecture exams are harder, so study! I had an 88% after the final and he rounded it to an A! Great guy :)

GO TO CLASS! Exams are fill in the blank only based on all material gone over in class. If you show up to class, take good notes (he makes powerpoints avail. to print) and actually study before the exam you will be fine. Lab is 50% and lecture is 50% of entire grade. He is a very chill Prof and knows his stuff. Never used the book.

Pretty cool straightforward teacher. Take good notes and study them prior to the exam and it should be no sweat. Lab quizzes count so make sure to get the easy 10 points each lab. STUDY STUDY STUDY

Dr. Briand is an amazing professor. This guy is probably the most relaxed professor I have ever seen. All of his notes, lab work, and exams are completely straightforward and there's no curve balls. He's also extremely helpful when you need help.

Briand is pretty good professor, he knows his stuff, and explains the material well. He is VERY flexible, allowing you to choose your own grade percentage, and answering 50 out of 60 questions on an exam. Lab quizzes are straight from the manual which is simple as can be. He makes this course so as if a person with half a brain could get a B

Just to expand on my comments below. He made it so we could make our own grading scale. 3 groups. Homework-Test-Lab quizzes. Any can be made between 20-40% but it has to equal 100%. I suggest doing 40% homework grade, 40% lab quiz grade and 20% test grade.

Dr. B is a really great teacher and kind of quirky. Plant Biology is an easy class if you know how to study. Write down everything he says and make note cards out of them. 3 tests that are 65 fill in the blank. You only have to answer 50 of them. 10 Lab quizzes that are easy, straight out of the workbook. Homework isn't too bad, but he will help.

Dr B is awesome! Attendance is not mandatory but do yourself a favor and go to all classes and pay attention. Take notes on his lecture, don't just copy down the powerpoints. Exams are tough, you need all the lecture info to do well. Half the class failed the first exam. You will need to study to do well. Lab quizzes can be tough, be prepared!

I loved Briand, he was really helpful and you could tell he found it fascinating which just made it more enjoyable. Exams can be difficult but if you study they weren't that bad. And he would answer all your questions and grading was up front. Don't really need to stay for the whole lab. But still need to go for the lab exams.

Oh dr. briand. hes an interesting fellow. a little crazy. you dont really use the book much. his tests come straight from the notes. i recommend note cards and charts to study for tests. and make sure to study labs well too. they count for 50% of your grade, and can really make or break you. take good notes and study and youll do fine

This class is verrry boring but I was never a plant person. Briand is very nice and is always willing to help. The tests are 65 fill in the blank - and you get to pick 50 for him to grade. For the labs, you don't even have to do them- just study someone else's paper the night before and you'll be ok.
