I was nervous about taking a science class but I thought he was a great teacher. He spoke loudly and clearly with excellent slides that were perfect for studying. He had a science brain but understood that others didn't and had a good sense of humor

His lectures are incredibly confusing. I learned more by looking at the powerpoints on my own than I did in his lectures. He is pretty nice guy overall, but a poor professor.

awful ns prof His tests require detail that he does not cover in lecture. most professors are willing to help their students understand and do well but collumb is not- he is rude and condescending in office hours and is not willing to help a student understand and then when everyone does awful on tests he yells and blames the students. hated it.

Lectures are horrible. Most people stop attending them because they get more confused. Others look at powerpoints from different professors to help them understand.

At first I couldn't figure out why I wasn't retaining a lot of info from lectures. Then I realized that he treats every lecture as a review. He acts as if you already know everything in detail and he is quickly reviewing it. Tests call for fairly detailed knowledge and almost always have questions that are completely irrelevant to the big picture.

I find Collumb to be a very difficult grader. For my first team exam I did poorly bc he didnt even give partial credit for the essay and short answer sections. I know i'm horrendous at NS and hate the course, but still didnt think it was necessary. Seems like a good guy, but poor science prof.

You have to go to lectures because he takes random attendence that can really help/hurt your grade (but you can stand outside the room and see if he passes out the sheets and leave it he doesnt). The more I paid attention to him the more confused I got. Its so sad; he makes lots of corny jokes that only he laughs at. His study guides are useless

i hate science and i did terrible in this class until i started going to lectures. his slides are so helpful and if you take notes you will always be prepared for the tests. if you ask him questions he makes you feel stupid and treats you like you should already know the material. i think he hates to teach. interesting in end and i got an A.

I had him freshmen year and loved him so much that I used his slides sophomore year to study for tests and did much better than the average grades of my team (team T)-- (He moved up to teach 201, 202). Like any NS class in CGS lectures are useless... don't waste your time going, just study the slides and skim the book and focus on lab material= A-.

He's kind of a cool guy, since he's into sports, beer, The Simpsons, and the iPod. Loves his science a lot. I was never really a big fan of NS (hated the labs, makes you do everything in the lab book) but as long as you do the work, and go to lectures you should do fine, he was clearer than my last NS professor (Herbert).

Get on his good side, and do your**** and you should be fine. He's really weird, and loves science a lil too much. Def do textbook reading for 102, unlike 101 which is totally useless.

Are you kidding me people? Collumb is horrendous. His monotone voice dosen't help his confusing explanations. I had him freshman and sophormore TRUST ME not friendly BUT also not infmormative. PEOPLE STUDY TEAM T'S study guide, the teacher's slides are also really straight forward. So i'm collumb's for the rest of the year but look at team t's stuf

Yeah, about Collumb. How about he gets wicked biased w/ students and grades he deals out, is not helpful, and is way too into his subject. (Unless he straight up admits he doesn't like teaching 101, which he's been known to do).

The worst professor at CGS. No one even shows up for his lectures! He told us that taking notes in his lectures were pointless because the slides are online anyway. Not very approachable.

Basically, memorize all of the slides for both JSA and Team lecture and you will excel. Labs help to boost up your grade =) He is very helpful! He is the stereotypical ideal science Professor

lol his jokes are extremely corny to the point that you really have to laugh. Real nice guy who does have that nerdy sense in him. Available and really helpful anytime. Team tests and everything else are beyond easy but midterms and finals are kinda tough. Overall good class.

I don't know what everyone else was saying...most of my team did not enjoy him. He tries to make it fun and funny, but it doesn't work. His teaching isn't 100% clear either. You have to do a lot of work outside the class room to do well. Lectures are online. Going is for extra credit.
