Comment:

Assigns lots of readings, but dont bother reading them except for the first textbook. Dont buy the other two because you dont need them until your term paper when you can borrow them in the library. Very lecture heavy, boring for some but he is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the material. No tests or quizzes, just papers for exams.

I didn't buy books for either of his classes because his lectures perfectly articulate what the books said, as long as you take notes you'll do great on the papers (which are only expected to be 3 pages long), he also met with me so many times and is one of the smartest individuals I ever had the pleasure of meeting. 100% take a class with him!

Long boring lectures. No tests but assigns papers that don't have a given length but are expected to be very long. Questions for the papers are very unclear on how to answer. If you don't have the book your essays will be impossible. Likes chicago style

Professor Herrick is an awesome professor. He doesn't use powerpoints, but instead uses the blackboard. He is always able to help and always willing to review a paper or simply just talk about current world politics. Truly an awesome professor and one of the smartest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Great guy, good intentions. Cares about your success. I took the African Gov and Politics course without any prior experience in PoliSci and when I expressed my concerns, he was more than willing to help me out with the content. Keep up in the READING if you want to know what he's talking about. FOLLOW the SYLLABUS. Highly recommended teacher

Herrick is old school. No PowerPoints, no videos. Teaches everything from the top of his head. Demands a lot from his students, but if you're willing to put in the time and effort, the course is very rewarding. It doesn't matter how much you already know, you can learn a lot from Herrick.
