Took this class online and it was a huge pain in the ass since it was so useless. Quite easy, but assignments were time consuming. Lots of online quizzes about readings, short essays, and discussion board postings that had to be short novels. He's an easy grader though, so as do all the assignments there's no way you won't get a decent grade.

Very friendly and easy to approach. The class consisted of listening quizzes, a mid-term and final. Overall, an easy class. If you're looking for a core or elective, I recommend taking this class.

Good professor. If you posess half a brain you should ace this class. He tells you exactly what's on exams and quizzes. Makes it easy to understand. However, sometimes goes more in depth than most non majors would understand. Would take a class with again!

He's very laid back and a cool guy. Class was boring at times, but it was incredibly easy if you put in a little effort. Class is made up of weekly listening quizzes, a midterm and final, and two concert reflection papers.

After a string of awful professors (mostly school of business) my faith in USM was restored by Chris Oberholtzer. I learned a great deal about the history of Jazz and gained a higher appreciation for the music. He's passionate about the subject matter and about teaching. If only he taught accounting...

This was supposed to be a class on how to teach Jazz to Middle and High Schoolers and it ended up being an excercise in showing the class how much smarter the Jazz Majors were than the Classical Majors. I learned nothing and felt it was a waste my my time

Into to jazz is the class to take during the summer. 2 weeks only and it is a breeze. Sexy when he talks about music, even sexier when he gives you that A. Just prepare for the listening quiz.

Intro to Jazz was easy and fun. The listening quiz is a little hard but just start listening early. Take this class...it's as easy A and he is a super nice guy. Not bad to look at...sexy when he talks about music.
