As a capstone class, I am very disappointed. This class was made up of pointless busy work and designed so that he doesn't have to do anything at all. It is all based on individual student presentations, group presentations, and debates. You only have to show up to class for attendance points but other than that you don't have to pay attention.

Very nice but very odd. Lectures almost every class. 3 quizzes, 2 tests, and a final. His study guides are pointless and his test/quizzes are hard. There are some in-class and out-of-class assignments to help boost grade, however, very test oriented. Treat the quizzes like a mini test.

As a capstone class, I am very disappointed. This class was filled with pointless busy work and he is so ambiguous with his instructions on assignments that it is a hit or miss to do well on them. He is a very picky grader and this course is set up so he doesn't need to teach anything.

If you're looking for an easy class, don't take it. even if you are interested in the topic, be wary - it is NOT easy. I took away a lot with what I learned in this class but I still got a C and I'm an ENVS major... Capstone is super easy though. But his basic classes are RIDIC.

He's a really nice/funny professor but pretty tough...if you're not interested in plants I wouldn't take it. He takes this class very seriously even though the majority of the people taking it are just trying to get in a core class. The class gets easier as you it goes on though so if you're having a hard time just stick to it.

He's really nice and super willing to answer questions when you don't understand. However, its difficult if you miss notes in class. His exams are pretty difficult and sometimes the wording is just awkward to understand. Just study to know your stuff.

Though you can tell he loves the subject and teaching, he seems to forget that this is a core class and most of his students are non bio majors. His tests are hard to understand (apparently the importance of biology surpasses the importance for grammar) and I find it very hard to keep up. Take an easier bio class if you are a non major.

Don't take unless you already know everything b/c he def doesn't teach anything. Powerpoints are disjointed. Material is factual, tests are application. Very few Q's will actually be from the material. Be prepared to do a lot of guessing. Lots of people dropped and once the class basically revolted and went off on him for failing as an educator.

He's really funny and nice, but if you don't show up for class and ask questions, you are going to be totally lost. His powerpoints sometimes need a lot more explanation from him. Professor Peterson is a nice guy, will try to help you with some of the technical jargon, but its really easy to get lost in class if you don't show up. He thinks we've all had years of biology behind us, which can be a setback. Take him if you're already interested in the topic or else it might be a bit much to handle.

I got a B in the class with a 84%.... the class average was a 71%. So if you want to take this as part of your core don't bother unless you want to hurt your GPA. Really, you need perfect attendance, but I think you can manage something respectable from him if you take good notes and listen carefully. I bought the textbook, but found out how little I needed that. I really just needed to run through my notes 4-5 times before each test/quiz... and his jokes aren't TOO corny.

he was the worst professor i have ever had...he tries to be funny but he really is just stupid. i tried to go in for help--he is so unhelpful. i was going to be a natural science/geology major but i changed my mind after taking this class--also, dont sit in the first row becasue he spits when he lectures.
