Horrible. No lecture slides, unfocused rambling story telling rather than a lecture. Didn't provide a grading rubric or sample answer for the example essay. Didn't provide correct multiple choice answers for the mid-term. with the curve in my section an A was 60%. Sad considering this is a bar topic.

Comment:

Before starting this class, I had the fear of God put into me. I was terrified from what I had heard. However, Prof. Cichon is an AMAZING Professor! He is NOTHING like his "reputation"! He really wants his students to understand the material. If you put in the work, you will get an A. Great Prof with funny jokes! :-)

Comment:

Cichon was initially one of my favorite Profs. He clearly knows his stuff. I clearly know Secured because of it. However, he does not know how to test the material he teaches. His method for testing is not practical to a real world application of the material. Would I recommend him? NO! It's not worth the GPA harm-when other Profs know the same.

I had straight A's my 2nd and 3rd year at Cooley, except for taking Secured Trans with Prof Cichon. I received a C (miss a B- by 1 point). I busted by butt, did all of the readings, and couldn't have prepared any more. His essay grading system is completely arbitrary. DO NOT TAKE HIM. DRIVE TO TAMPA FOR ANOTHER PROF IF NEED BE.

Great Experience got an A. In the class in MI. Multi-choice were easy. Get the generic outline that everyone has at Cooley and use the Gilberts book. However, make your own outline off the 2. Make sure to under stand the analysis of the rules (like fixtures and bankruptcy for ex).It is not a hard class just very time consuming.

If you take Cichon in Australia your exams will be easy ? so easy in fact that one of the mult. choice answers is always Alaska or some other ridiculously wrong answer choice. Is it any wonder that you don?t find an Australian final exam in the Exam Bank? When he teaches in MI, he has no problem turning the screws on his students. Pick someone else

I had him for Contracts II and Secured Transactions. He's a nice guy who tries to make his classes interesting, but he will nail you on the exam. His teaching style and examples do not adequately prepare you for the exam.

This guy teaches Secured Transactions like it was a first year course. By far, he is one of the hardest professor I ever took. HIs exams are brutal. His grating method is tough. He is very smart and interesting but I reccomend you take someone else, unless you enjoy pain.

He cares. But who cares about that other than Clintonista's. (Maybe you ae too young to get that.) His exam was excruciatinigly unreasonable. I know Sescured Transactions backwards and forwards. But his exam was looking for code numbers. Over all, he grades tough, but is not a bad teacher to take.

Super clear professor. He is an excellent teacher. He knows how to teach and you will learn the material. I could have sworn I was going to flunk his class because there was so much material even though he knew how to teach it. I could not remember it all. But I ended up doing really well in his class but be carefuly b/c he gives F's easily

Brilliant guy but cold as ice, can give you the 1000 yard stare. A bit nefarious, he once failed a handful of people for cheating and fails people for canned essays. Brutal in class but its a brutal subject. Teaches relentlessly and ruthlessly. In-class hypos were mind-numbing. Exam was extremely hard. You will fail his exam unless prepared.

Comment:

Cichon is a good guy, but the class is a mutha! He can be pretty demanding in class, but it is for a reason. This material is very difficult for most and his exams are very difficult. Use your time wisely and be prepared to back up your answers with code sections. Very little, if no credit for a general discssion of the law. Good Luck.
