I felt like she hated me in class. However, her office hrs are a total gamechanger. I had no idea what I wanted to write about, but after one meeting with her she cut to the core of my interests. I highly recommend her not only because she helped me write a great paper, but also because she helped me find what I was really interested in.

Lots of readings that are not helpful and the class lessons that aren't even related to them. She talks too much about her personal experiences (you've been to Africa, we get it). Overall just really full of herself and not very nice.

Worst professor I have ever had. Entirely unhelpful. Cancelled meetings with me 3 times. Harsh and unrealistic. Waste the first 3/4 of the class to have everything due all the sudden. Treats her students like we are idiots. Very high and mighty attitude. Would not recommend.

Gets you through the paper but without much guidance. At least in my section she forgot what she told the class and what she had talked to you about previously. Every time I went to her office she went against what she had told me the first time, so I ended up stranded on my own. Not very impressed.

Professor Collins is AWESOME! She makes one of the hardest classes at AU fantastic. It still isn't an easy class (but it's mandatory), but is so worth taking with Collins. She is so cool and has the best stories to tell about her life. Learned a lot too!

Professor Collins is very serious and treats class like a work environment where you turn in memos and work towards a final project (the IR research paper). She may seem a bit abrasive but she's the nicest woman in the world, get to know her during office hours! Work hard and discuss your research 1 v 1 on a regular basis and you'll be golden.

Collins is a very serious woman and can seem a bit frightening sometimes, but she's actually very nice and helpful. She has high standards, but she's willing to help you reach those standards. Assignments are due almost everyday of class, but are worth a tiny portion of your grade and are helpful towards your final paper which is 50% of your grade.

Prof. Collins can be very serious (military background) but is very passionate about the subject and helpful outside of class. Challenges students to think critically. Not a class to give opinions in if you can't evidence your claims.

One of the best professors I will ever have. She was enthusiastic about the class and clearly passionate about development issues, but also gave realistic and practical advice. She seemed to respect students opinions to learn from us-- I never missed a class, and it was an 8:30 block!!!

Professor Collins is the most awesome professor ever. She is always well prepared and energizing. When I hear her speak, the material comes alive. Also, she periodically brings into the classroom individuals with current background in her area. They have been so interesting. I can't wait to take another course with Prof Collins; she's the best.

Professor Collins is one of the best professors I've had. She is very intelligent, enthusiastic, and helpful. She has lots of experience in her field and teaches us how to apply what we learn. She made this required research class more interesting. You should do well if you do the readings and assignments and use the feedback she gives.

I am extremely happy that Professor Collins returned to AU this semester. She was greatly missed last year. So far, she has displayed a level of commitment, clarity, wisdom and excitement that energizes each of her students. She is always willing to provide after-class attention to those who need her help.

Professor Collins is the best teacher I have ever had. She is knowledgeable, thoughtful, presents her thoughts clearly, and has passion for her subject (and, apparently, her life). I most highly recommend her as a teacher and what historically was for me, a friend.

Ok, so IR research is a really boring topic no matter who is teaching it. That said, prof. Collins is very intelligent and very interested in the subject. You will learn a whole lot in her class and though it isnt fun, It is way easier than the other IR research classes. She is the only IR research Prof. who doesnt assign a full research paper!

Professor Collins is by far one of the most knowledgeable and respectable professors I have ever met. She knows her field very well--and has the ability to push you to advance academically. She is demanding, but as long as you do your work, the class will be so worth it. It is probably the most memorable classes I have ever taken.

Professor Collins is great! She approaches her students as professionals and treats us with respect, but still jumps right in to correct you when you are wrong. She is extremly knowledgeble, yet still very approachable. I want her to be my capstone advisor; she was that great!
