really funny guy! down to earth! really knows his stuff. he loves sharing stories with one another! mad us laugh always! kinda rude and sarcastic at times but you'll get use to it. didnt need to buy the world lit books because he would just talk about it during class. one of the best i've had. cant take him again because he retired. rest in peace!

Great professor, i absolutely loved him. Extremely funny teacher, however very sarcastic and somewhat offensive but in a funny way. If you participate, most likely hell like you. Read the books and do the papers. Just need a bit of thinking in this class, but otherwise easy. One of my fav prof, took once a week, wish it was more. Take him!!!

I agree that he is sarcastic and at times, borderline offensive but overall he is very fun and keeps class interesting. Had him for a summer course so it went fast and there was a lot of reading, but papers and quizzes were easy if you read (even just Sparknotes will get your through) He teaches FOR FUN which is rare these days. Recommended-easy A!

He tells you to read but half the time you don't go over it, but you MUST be prepared! He makes comments that are offending and often is one sided on subjects. Work hard, attend class, answer quest. and you'll be fine. I would take him again. (Summer course= 3 papers, midterm & final and of course lots of READING)

In an english class you expect the professor to simplify the text for clarification purposes, well not with Mitchell. He assigns readings and doesn’t really go over them. If your hwk was about slavery, then the next class he’ll talk about battered women. He doesn’t stay focused and rarely teaches anything relevant to his own assignments.

This guy was borderline obnoxious. I wouldn't even call it having a sense of humor, but downright crossing the line at times. I was afraid to participate; his reactions/responses tend to make you feel dumb at times. A few papers, one or two pop quizzes, a midterm and final exam. All in all, it's not major grunt work.

He is a very,fun loving guy. He teaches strictly for fun and is an easy grader.Its Eng so it is boring, but he is very personable. If you u have a sense of humor and attend every class, you will be just fine. 3 short paper ( 2-3 pages) and 2 easy tests. EASY grader.I DEF would take him agian!

Amazing professsor! Very sarcastic and strange at times but when talking about the books, he is really informative. He also mainly talks about things that relate to the students. Not a hard class at all. Take it and have alotta fun! Very very smart and realistic guy :)

he kind of freaked me out at first btu he turns out to be a really nice guy. Just do your work. He has a passion for what he teaches and grades very fair. However, he also tends to go off topic and you never quite get back on. He has fun with his students and interacts with them as equals.

Sarcasm is one of his best attributes :) Made me laugh with gusto. 3 short papers and 2 exams. I thought him to be of an extreme sensibility- works are analyzed not for mere literary context but for what they translate of the american experience.
