one of the best classes ive taken at fordham! Mangum is very helpful and he is willing to get to know each of his students. extremely kind. hes very passionate about african american history, which is his speciality, which makes the course interesting and reading assignments bearable. take him!

I took the class to fullfill my Globalism and Pluralism requirement. I thought it will be a bad class, since I am not really into history. The class ended up being rather insightful and really easy. I don't see how people thought the midterm was hard, for our class, I literally just recited back the notes and got a perfect grade. Take him!

Kind of a strange teacher. He shows a lot of videos but has no clue how to play them so a good portion of class is spent trying to play the video. Then there is class discussions on topics barely relevant to the readings. Then he reads facts off of crumpled papers. He is very nice and an easy grader. Some of the readings/videos are eye opening

I'm 2 and a half months in with this guy and, to be honest, I don't know where all the hype about this guy comes from. Yeah, there isn't much work, but his midterm was fairly tough and I was expecting a cool guy, but what I got was a lifeless drone who reads from notes all class. Maybe it will get better, but I'm not buying it

Really adorable definetly a mix between the family matters dad and uncle phil. His lectures are really boring and he takes forever to say anything, but you watch a lot of videos so it helps pass the time.

Dr.Mangum is one of the nicest and most approachable professors. Sometimes his lectures become boring, but his class is a real eye opener and you will definately gain alot by taking his class. Plus he is an easy grader.

He is the most ineffective professor in the entire world. He just reads statistics straight from the text book and tries to facilitate discussion, but the discussion will be trite. He also makes you watch atrocious movies that he thinks are thought-provoking. He is, however, one of the nicest men I have ever met.

A mix between the fathers from Family Matters and Fresh Prince. Truly a caring professor. Lectures are a bit dry at times, but he always loves to engage the class in discussion. Really cares about his students. Paper, midterm, final, field trip. Assigns slightly heavy work, but doable. Easy grader. Take him for a light, but overall enjoyable class.

Mangum is the GREATEST! I was 1 of the many students who took him for a 2nd time, actually a 3rd cuz I luv the guy so much. He's not a boring professor, and the class discussions are great and so are the videos. I had him 4 American Pluralism, Caribbean Peoples and Culture, and Intro to Modern American Hist. Mangum is SO PAINFULLY BORING! All of class is lecture..monotonous lecture as he reads straight from his notes, word for word..talks about extraneous things and says too much so note taking is difficult. Tests arent that bad but he wants too much detail and doesnt ever give you a study guide "Just study the 500 pages from the past four months!"
