I did not mind him at all. He can be funny but it is the typical college lecture; he writes on the chalkboard and you take notes. I studied with notecards and did perfectly fine on the tests. Put a little effort in and show up for class and you will be fine

This was the worst class I've ever taken. He doesn't do a good job teaching. If you like teaching yourself and then taking extremely hard tests, with half of the material being topics he never talked about, have fun. Not worth the poor grade for a GenEd course.

I am currently enrolled in the class and it is hard if you dont study. I recommend you study everything from notes to the lab manual because you get a list of terms for the test but it is more stuff you will need to know. Basically, study and you will do fine.

UGHHH. the lecture was supposed to be over an hour and the class would only be 30 min which is fine except we didn't finish the curriculum and the lecture was supposed to be 500 points but since we never finished the class it ended up being 300 points and he took the average and it really dragged my grade down. and he doesnt answer emails. ever.

Had Dr. Counts for a 101 lab, I think a lot of students found him to be boring but I happen to like biology, so i enjoyed his lectures. He was always very helpful and nice to us. Weekly quizzes were very easy to prepare for. Highly recommend!

Counts wrote his notes on the board right out of the book, he gave us study guides with around 200 words for 100 ? mult choice tests. However what he wrote on the board and put in the study guide had very little to do with what was on his tests. The test questions were so off the wall and not what you end up studying 4 I dont recommend taking him.

He is a very peculiar teacher. He told us he doesn't want this job and is overall unfriendly to the students. His labs are unpassable. He sends out study guides for his tests but I studied it for three days and got an E on the exams. I think that's saying something. He does throw in a massive curve at the end of the semester though which helped me.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! He does not know how to teach! His tests are very hard and his quizzes are impossible! You have to teach yourself everything in this class! He rambles on about nothing during lecture and is never clear on what you need to know, plus he'll never answer your questions! Spare yourself a lot of trouble & don't take this class!!!

He is not a very good teacher. He is unorganized and always strays from what we need to know to some random facts. You NEED the textbook just so you can teach yourself b/c he does not do a good job at that. I passed that class based on what I learned from high school. I do not recommend him

OMG the worst professor in history.. I despise this professor. he is so unorganized and is never clear on what he wants from his students and he once even tested on materials that we didn't even cover in class. AVOID at all COSTS!!!!!

Dr. Counts is a nice person, but horrifically unorganized. This class was a traumatizing experience and I am a BIO major. In order to get a good grade, you just have to be slightly better than everyone else. He despairs the education system and basically thinks all students are underachievers. I think he is just burned out on teaching.

Counts was the WORST professor I have ever had.He also missed like 50 points of mine which gave me a D in the course instead of a C too. He ignored my emails as well. I am in the middle of appealing this grade because he is a horrible teacher. I am a straight A student and do not have trouble in any of my other classes. He is a bad bad bad teacher!

his exams and lab quizzes were VERY hard for a bio class for non majors. he missed 30 points towards my final grade, giving me a D instead of a C. hasn't responded to any of my e-mails about this. i got all A's in my other classes and a D in his-something about this does not seem right. 80 out of 100 people would fail each of of his exams.

really good teacher. enjoyed him a lot. he was very helpful in catching you up if you had reasonable absences. tests can be a little difficult if you dont study but most of them come from the chapter reviews. his lectures were easy to follow. labs were easy 10 out of 10s and helped grade.
