His networking I and II classes online is pretty much like signing up for depression. many others have noted, his make up vocabulary and sentence structure is enough to have you scratching your head. On top of all that, he insists on teaching you nothing! there is zero teaching in his online classes. Expect to be confused and find help else where.

I've had Professor Layton for two classes. He's interested in helping students learn and is always patient and helpful. You have to work but if you get stuck, he's always helpful.

He is a great professor. If you are having problems, he's always willing to help. If you send him an email about something, expect to get a response in less than an hour in most cases. As someone else said, it's like he never goes home. Also, if you work ahead you can get a better grade because he lets you resubmit work before the due date.

I enjoyed this professor. I took this class online, and it consisted of working through exercises on the computer and answering questions. There also was a midterm and a final. The professor was very friendly, answered emails quickly, and encouraged questions. Overall, great professor and great class.

If you get your assignments in ahead of time you cannot go wrong. This guy will help you until you get it right. Then once it is correct you can hand it in and get an A. Running late is a bad idea. Very tough subject matter. Advise buy book in advance, get handle on vocabulary and concepts. Hard class for those uninitiated in computer science.

Easy class, summarize technologies as semester progresses. If the summaries were long enough for midterm and final papers then needed to only summarize once. Helpful, lots of reminders about HW. Work on presentation early, it will sneak up on you. No dropbox, all HW submitted on threaded discussion. Fast email replies. No textbook required.

His online teaching is terrible. He is disorganized, and very confusing. The material (txtbook,and JC Videos) are really clear, but his madeup assigns are difficult to understand. I have had many online prog. classes prior, and a 3.7 overall GPA.

Extemely helpful and fast communications. I took this online and it was pretty easy. If you know anything about computers, you will make an A+, if you don't, you will make an A-. HINT -- Study the PC acronyms as they comprise the majority of the tests.

Emerging Technologies online - EASY class. No textbook. Just do a presentation and do summaries for others; piece of cake. Mr. Layton communicates on a daily basis and is very quick to reply to questions. I highly recommend.

Systems Analysis (Online) - Very clear in expectations, assignments, and due dates. Prompt in responses, if not always the most helpful. Not a touchy-feely supportive type, but will generally help as much as needed when asked. Good instructor if you don't need a lot of hand-holding in subject.
