Very good professor! But make sure to really pay attention to what he says during lecture because his PowerPoints are not well-detailed, more like an outline. A lot of talking of his experiences and of people he knows. Quite lengthy but you learn so much. Definitely has a passion for what he teaches. Good person and caring of others. Cool dude :)

AMAZING professor and amazing man. I recommend everyone taking at least one of his classes. It surely was a pleasure being able to be apart of his Native American History class my first quarter at UCR. He was really great, understanding, and made information easier to understand. HIGHLY recommend.

He's a great professor. Very passionate about Native American history and lectures are funny and entertaining. No final just 3 midterms which consists of two parts, a take home 3 pg paper and simple multiple choice section (20 questions). Easy and fun class. He made us give him a standing ovation so he could win a bet with his wife, it was funny

Spectacular professor, really cares about his students and uses different strategies to keep us entertained. Even brought in native americans to tell us stories! He's extremely passionate and his lectures are like story time. 2 tests, one 7-10 page paper the TA's are helpful with. (Kevin Whalen is the good TA). Highly recommend this class.

Cliff was my advisor throughout undergrad and grad school. He is a really good egg with the metabolism of a hummingbird and an almost obsessive desire to help his students. If you want to learn about oral history, he's your man. If you want to go into NA history, go talk to him. My writing improved enormously because of his red marks on my papers. He is active with local tribes and on the NA Heritage Commission. He publishes a bazillion books a year and is helpful when you want to publish.
