I think Mr. Gillespie is one of the best teachers out there. He's always so nice and friendly, just disorganized and very easily-sidetracked, like mentioned below. He really will do anything possible to help you out, though. He does demand a lot out of applieds, but he also goes easy on you. If you don't do your work, you just get it all again.

He knows his stuff when it comes to 300 level theory. He was extremely informative and knowledgeable during his teaching of counterpoint, modes, and mensural notation. I enjoyed his class. He is very fair.

I don't know how anyone could complain about him as a teacher. All he does is work to help us. He's at the school late every night helping somebody. If you want to see good teaching, take his class. Thanks Mr. Gillespie!

He's a great man. Can get side tracked easy though. He knows his stuff! He cares for his student and you can see that. If you march, sometimes he runs Southerners as a drum corps though. But, I would take him for anything that he offers.

Really suprised me as a theory teacher. I thought it would either be really easy or really hard, but he balanced it well and taught us what we needed to know, and made learning the info enjoyable. Not that great of an ensemble conductor though.
