he has managed to make a student who hated economics into one who has a deeper understanding and respect for the discipline. he always did a fantastic job explaining, but not babying the class, and when approached after class about something particular, took the time to make sure you understood everything.

I had Southey for intermediate micro and int'l trade. Very intelligent, good teacher. Courses were difficult but not due to his teaching method, but rather the material. Expects high levels of analysis from his students so be prepared to study if he's ever your prof.
