He's an overall amazing professor and an absolute teddy bear. He loves what he does and I don't think I've ever seen a teacher or professor this passionate about what they are teaching. With that being said, he is probably the hardest professor you'll ever have. If you don't study ahead and prepare well YOU WILL NOT PASS!!

This class is only hard because 90% of the class are freshman. Dr herreid doesnt offer a cheat sheet like the other professors but he gives you so many opportunities to do good. If you do good in lab, thats 1/3 of your hard grade so if you score above average in each test, you can still get an A. Take this class as a sophomore or junior if u can

Adorable man, loves what he does. His test require not only memorization but understanding. So if you don't get a topic, make you sure you understand it before exams. For finals, I watched most of his recordings, wrote down what he said and memorized it all. I got a 75 overall and it went up to an A-. It was the hardest 75 I've ever got.

I will tell you the fact that nobody have told you. For this class, the final exam is a surprise, full of surprises!! It is extremely hard. That's why the professor doesn't even give you any final practice exam (except the TA one), and you also cannot take the final multiple choice question paper with you. He keeps it as a surprise!! Work harddddd.

Although he teaches some great lectures this class is extremely difficult compared to the other bio 200 classes. the tests are extremely difficult and very specific if you dont know everything from lecture you will not do well

Seems like a nice enough guy but he makes this a really tough course compared to the other professors, especially since its only an intro level and prerequisite for literally everything else. I'd suggest taking it with either one of the other professors unless you really love evolutionary bio.

This was of the hardest courses I've ever taken. He makes you work for it, but he's a brilliant man and lectures are amazing. Tests are very difficult, but over an 80% in an A, so if you really really study you'll be fine. Clicker questions are also difficult, and you'll lose lots of points if you don't go to class.

Dr. Herreid is a nice and entertaining guy however his expectation levels are far too high. 500+ flashcards, hours of studying and reviewing later and I barely managed a C on the exams. They are complex questions and anything said during lecture is fair game on. Would not recommend taking his course first semester of freshman year.

I did not like Herreid at all. His tests seemed very unfair, considering you could study for hours and still fail. His tests are also very specific, and if you answer isn't exactly how he wants it to the T, you'll miss a lot of points. The class was hard enough, and his unrealistic expectations of students made it even harder. Would not recommend

Professor Herreid is an amazing teacher! BIO200 is a weed-out class so get ready for hours of studying per lecture. Herreid's lectures are dense, but he makes them super entertaining and fun. His clicker questions are tough and make attendance a must. He heavily curves the class (<80 is an A), but you still gotta put in the work!

Man, Dr. Herreid was an interesting experience. He's very lecture heavy, you MUST pay attention to what he says and how he says it. READ THE TEXTBOOK, you will fail if you don't. Pray for a good Lab TA because if you don't have a good one, it'll negatively impact your grade. TAKE THE PRACTICE EXAM he takes questions from it and puts it on his exam.

Unless you're actually interested in evolution, don't take him. His tests are nearly impossible even if you study for hours. He's actually interested in what he's teaching which is nice, but other than that there's not many positives. You'll have to memorize every single detail in the presentations, the things he says, and the book to be successful

One of the hardest professor on campus. Considering he taught at Ivy League Universities it is expected. You need to put in real study time and effort to learn from this guy.

This is known as the hardest class most will ever take so beware but if you work hard it is manageable. I studied 20 hours before the first two exams and more than 40 for the final. Lab meets once a week. Exams are lecture based. The exam questions are VERY hard. The professor is very smart and knows how to ask questions in the hardest way.

Honestly this class is manageable as long as you want to study. I was constantly studying for this class because of how much material there is and how hard he makes the tests. He is a great professor and makes classes much more interesting. If you're not willing to study then I would say probably go take Poulin.
