Lectures are very dense and very long (51-65 slides avg) and it's easy to get distracted in the class but get ready to really study hard otherwise you won't pass her class. she is super hard because the exam material and even the practice exam material she gives out are all application-al based. Hardest class I had ever taken.

Connie's class can be a very difficult subject. At times she is very vague and her teaching style isn't too helpful. She does curve on a historic curve however it is still a hard topic to grasp. 3 midterms, 5 quizzes, and a final. Her grading is specific and hard. Make sure to do the problem sets and attend lecture regularly.

You will definitely have to understand the concepts to do well in the class. Simply memorization won't do it. But she is such a sweet and helpful lady. Go to the office hours, ask questions, do practice problem, attend lectures (for extra credit clickers) and you will do well. Cell bio can be challenging but she is great at making things relevant.

This class is not an easy A if you don't put in your effort. Reading the book is necessary to clarify some of the vague concepts. Her lectures do NOT cover every detail of what she says in Class. SO DO pay attention and take good notes in class -because her EXAMS are mostly based on what she teaches! Also, DO all the Problem Sets!!! It is a must!

Very nice and clear professor. So many clicker questions every lecture. If you get them right it's a bonus point. I recommend recording and listening to her lectures before exam. All exams were fair. Very interesting and organized. Lots of helpful material and do the practice problems and practice exams! They are incredibly helpful!

Lots of material. Must reread lecture slides and do problem sets to help understand material better. Clickers provided bonus points and sometimes appeared on exams. She really simplifies the content and is super nice and helpful!

Not easy, but not hard either. This class is about understand concepts rather than memorizing. Put effort in- you will get a good grade if you don't then expect a horrible grade.

Whoever says 161A is harder than this class is full of sh*t. Nugent is a great professor because she's challenging but very straightforward. And a very nice person. Really clear in office hours and no surprises on her tests. You do need to know everything to do well, but it's very doable. And her class will help you SO SO much in other upper divs!

CBNS 101: She can't teach and she also expect a lot in one quarter. She has numerous lectures and you also need to compose 3 essays + discussion. If you need to take her, I suggest not taking more than two sciences. Her husband is a bit better at teaching CBNS 101. Note: her tests are brutal!!! Knowing everything may not guarantee an A

Who is this fool telling you that Bio161A is easier than this class? Most people who have taken both would disagree. Don't listen...Nugent is straightforward and knows what she's talking about. Stop being lazy and ask for help in office hours. This class is more than just memorization

Nugent really knows her stuff. found her to be one of the best professors at ucr. She simplifies the material but at the same time still expects a lot from her students. Very approachable and helpful. If you want to do well, she will do everything she can to help you. Just don't expect her class to be easy and show her some respect

this class in general is difficult because a lot material is covered. her tests really make you think which is fair. don't expect upper div classes to be a walk in the park. she's a great professor who's very passionate about science. she's really helpful too. grow up and think people that's the point of going to college!

Dr. Nugent is a great prof. Most students say teachers are bad simply because they are demanding. But to learn cbns 101 you have to study a lot! Go to office hours and study the practice sheets. She actually makes you think which is why people may not like her because they want to get an A with no effort

I did well in this class and here's why. Go to the office hours and just talk with them!! Anyconcept that you don't understand, they will help you out. Outline your notes...I was one of 3 to get an A and it wasn't easy but study and or rewrite your lectures notes so it sticks in you head better!!

This class was one of the hardest classes ever. Honestly, do not take this class if you do not need to, especially with C.Nugent. There is so much information you need to know in order to get at least get average in this class. It is not worth wasting a quarter if you dont need this class. I'd rather taking bio 161a over this class any day.

The material is not hard, it just depends on how well you study it.The exams are extremely hard and students tend to not knowing what exactly the question is asking for.Make sure you keep up the reading and get help from TA's office hours.

I totally underestimated this class. It seemed easy at first because the material seemed to overlap, just like EVERY science class at Riverside (not necessarily a bad thing). I thought the class was interesting enough and I'd recommend it. Helps if you get a good TA though and visit the professor during OH if you don't get it.

I understand why people could be upset with this course because it is demanding, but their failures are their own fault, this class is approchable only through intense studying, if you're not prepared to do the work, you shouldnt be prepared to comment. BTW I am still in the class and havent recieved my grade.
