Comment:

Near impossible to get time outside of class to discuss with her. Exams did not correspond with content from textbook or lectures. One of the requirements of the class is to kill frogs in order to dissect? Definitely a morally questionable requirement. Truly representative of everything that is wrong with the education system.

The hardest biology teacher at the department, you only have 6 classes to miss, her exams contains very specific details from the lecture and the book. She is very helpful if you want some help, but for an easy A, you should avoid this class.

Probably the hardest teacher at John Carroll. Her test are extremely difficult and some of the information is neither in the notes or book. I did not enjoy her class at all although she is a good teacher. Knows what she is talking about, but your grade will suffer with her. I would not recommend taking her class. Avoid if you can. Takes attendance.

Dr. Wideman was a very difficult grader. She was very negative toward her students and almost mean at some points. Her classes are overly difficult and she is quite unhelpful outside of the classroom. Avoid at all costs.

She is a wonderful old women! She knows what she is talking about in all aspects of Biology. She expects a lot from every student. Don't come to her class without studying!! All in all, her class was very straight forward with what she wanted you to know and what you will be tested on. I would recommend her; you will learn a lot.

Avoid at all costs. I took her classes in 1995. She was also my advisor. Gave the WORST advice. She is negative; she told me without a 4.0, I would go nowhere in my career. Highly underestimated other skills. She should not advise any young student. Became successful in spite of her assesment. Old school teaching style. Avoid!

I cannot deny that she is a good professor and that I have learned a lot from her; however, her tests are way too hard and she is extremely picky. She is the kind of professor that believes that knocking you down is the way to motivate you. I would not take her again.

I actually have no words for this class. Save yourself so much trouble and just take regular a&p. The tests were nothing like the lectures and to me actually harder than the mcat. Haven't had a more nitpicky teacher since grade school.

I learned so much from her and she is an amazing professor. She explains things in a lot of detail and goes over it until you really understand it. Her tests are kind of tough and she tries to trick you on testsquizzes. The quizzes are right off the lecture notes and the tests are off the notes too with 2 or 3 questions from the book.

Wideman is tough. Her quizzes are based off of her lecture notes, but the exams are more balanced between the book and lecture. She uses figures from the text book. If you study, you will do well. If you are nice to her, she will be nicer to you.

There is no doubt Dr. Wideman is absolutely brilliant, but that was an impossibly hard class. She knows what she's doing, the ppt. was flawless, but make sure you do office hours and STUDY STUDY STUDY because the exams are mind puzzles (she likes to trick students). most of my class dropped biology altogether.

Dr. Wideman is such a sweet woman, and is very intelligent. She makes lecture very clear and is always open for extra help and review. Her quizzes are easy and keep you on track. But her tests are extremely difficult. She goes into deep detail, and extensive studying is needed to do well.

Never took a class with her (but hear shes terrible) she was my pre major advisor. if u get stuck with her switch IMMEDIATELY!! never helped me with anything, forgot who I was on several occasions. generally didnt care about me whatsoever. Also told me I wasnt smart enough to go to med school with a 3.5 science gpa... AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!

Very good teacher, but very difficult. Quiz every week, which are taken from the powerpoints. Make sure you read the book, too. Write down everything she says, too, it'll make its way onto a test. Tests are very challenging, but you end up learning a ton. I would take her again

I had her for both General Bio 1 and 2. She is very helpful, nice, and smart. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and study her slides! Her tests come right off the slides and her quizzes are generally very easy. She's a great professor and I'm genuinely sad that she doesn't teach Bio 3 :(
