He really tries to get the class to be interested in poetry. Best part of the course was writing your own poetry. Weekly homework, but basically just show up and you will get a good grade. Super easy course.

Tries to make the class interesting and fun. Expect to: study for exams/quizzes, write extensive notes in class (which will help immensely on exams), write some essays which require thoughtfulness and research (he can easily spot when you write it the day before). He is clear on what he expects from students, wants specific examples for exams

Boggs is the man. Easy class, but quite boring at times. No final, just 6 three page papers due all semester. Highly recommend this class. Boggs is fun, easys, and laid back

Took his poetry class and it was very fun and informative. The grading wasn't too hard-- he completely understands that most students in his class aren't passionate about poetry and tries to make is accessible. Good class!

Only 2 textbooks, must bring them to class otherwise he gets upset and can ask you to leave. Homework is due every other day. It's simple in the beginning, you have to write your own poems but it gets challenging, you have to analyze a poem. Everyone reads poems in class from textbook. Final is half take home and other half is in class.

Boggs is the man and he realizes that no one cares about what he is talking about so he does his best to keep you interested. He always lets you out of class 20 minutes early and you are allowed to miss class 10 times.

Professor Boggs is my favorite English professor at USD, and that says a lot because the English Department is full of great professors. He's very passionate about the stuff he teaches and he's always willing to help his students. He does get annoyed with students who are rude or who don't do the work. Just stay on top of stuff and be respectful.

Professor Boggs' class was definitely interesting and his passion shows in his teaching. The time commitment to the class is a bit high. There are one page papers due ever class, and an essay about every other or every third week. Final is 2 essays that you bring on the day of the final. Not the easiest grader, but certainly fair. Overall, good.

Fantastic! He?s a funny guy, with great stories; laid back. Loved every second of Travel Lit. Classtime = talking about the book, and sharing travel stories. Doesn?t require much except short writings & some papers. Not difficult at all. Read, go to class, shoot the breeze, and you?ll get an A.

Such a good teacher. I took Lit. of Travel with him and it was one of the best classes I have ever taken. He's super funny and knows so much about the world; it's very entertaining listening to his stories. Show interest in the subject, do the homework, and participate and you will get an A.

Boggs is seriously awesome. At the end of the semester, we were compelled to start a slow clap to celebrate what a great class it was. I took mythology with him and he is just such a great, laid-back, easy going professor it is impossible not to love him. He is the type of guy you just want to get coffee with and talk about the world- but as far

Boggs is my favorite teacher! If you just read the book you will be fine. The best English teacher I have ever had. We did not have quizes, but we actually discussed the book and got to ask questions the class period. The books we read were interesting as well. I definitely recommend him, and I am taking him again!

He's a jerk. He's not a good teacher, he's not helpful, and he is so unclear about ehat he wants from you that you get too confused and frustrated to care. If you get him run as far as possible. Don't take any class, especially gothic lit. He's interesting until you want him to be a real teacher. He doesn't even have an email for questions.

If you're not an English person, don't take it. I'm a history and math person, and I really hate the class. Also, gothic lit is boring and sometimes grotesque. You have a short time to read a bunch. He seems like a good guy but can't stand his teaching style. If he was an uncle or grandpa he would be your favorite. He's always telling weird stories
