Useless. Some think he is a genius, but honestly I know more about the subject going in than he ever did. Was completely unwilling to be helpful, and frankly, he does enjoy set design more than teaching, and will tell you so. Basically, if you are not a bottle, he is not interested.

Marty is an awesome set designer. His teaching, however, is lacking. He is probably the worst professor I've ever had, but he still knows a lot. He teaches really easy classes. He knows so much about theater though, and you can really learn a lot from him when he's in his element...the theater.

Didn't learn anything, and might as well have been asleep. Class discussions are useless and boring, and the class is unorganized and ill-prepared. An aweful advisor, never there when you need him and can't offer any advice. More interested in set design than teaching.

This guy obviously teaches so somebody will pay his bills while he designs, but he's at least pretty honest about that. I often got the feeling he came to class totally unprepared & just improvised. He's not a demanding prof at all--easy classes, fundamentally interesting stuff, but don't make him your advisor, or anything.

I've had Marty for a ton of classes, and I'm a senior theatre major. If you are sticking up for him, that's cool, but you must be a biased prof. He does have his favorites, can be helpful, but is very scatterbrained. Just don't rely on him for much.

Marty's okay. Kind of stress-inducing. And I guess he could be seen as attractive...but that's, well, not that first thing I think of when I think of Marty...But I do encourage you, if you're thinking of a Theatre major--DROP IT NOW!!!!
