Although there was another teacher before him, he wasnt that hard to follow. I wnet to lecture majority of the time, printed out his lecture notes and went through them, went to section, read the book and study in groups and I didnt do half bad. He's a really funny and very excited teacher, you can tell he loves what he teaches.

his teaching style is something to get used to and attending lectures is a must because he does throw some silly details into his tests. Overall his is laid back, interesting, and pretty easy. He talks fast, but is very willing to answer questions. Pay attention to his examples!

Comment:
This guy goes off on the most unrelated tangents- he will spend half the class period trying to explain the relevance of some confusing and not entirely applicable examples of concepts that are otherwise not hard to understand. Going to lecture is a MUST, his tests are entirely based on trivial facts that he happened to mention in class. Unfair.

dont let his hippyish appearance and his wide strides fool you, he is just like any teacher. his lectures are very boring, notes are vague and online. test was ok but if u slack off you can be in very deep doo doo. his reading is short and intresting and mostly common sense but make sure you keep up with it. section quizes are hard.

I really enjoyed his lectures although he speeds through them. The final wasn't too bad, but it helped going to all of his lectures and reading the text. His online notes weren't too helpful because of how he organized them, but what really helped was answering his study questions and reading his textbook notes while reading the text.

Amazing teacher. He gives really good examples but doesn't get so caught up in them that he doesn't get the material covered. The class is hard but if you know your material you will do well.

One of the best classes I've taken at UCSC. Moves really quick, but if you're on top of the reading and go to section, its easy to keep up. Funny and interesting, dan makes bio fun!!

he's a very interesting and energetic teacher. many didn't enjoy his reading notes because they were less recall and more about thinking and accessing situations. i liked them, it helped emphasize which points to focus on.

Dan Doak was probably the best and most challenging professor I had at Santa Cruz. If you just want to take easy classes and get your degree, please don't waste his time. If you want challenging courses from a brilliant lecturer, look no further.

Not a bad professor, although I think Pogson was better. A little out there, pretty funny at times. "Salad is a cruel form of vivsection." Talks way too fast for me.
