Doctor Hartnett belongs to the philosophy department but he taught this class on liberation theology. It was excellent! Definitely take it if he offers it again. One of the best courses I have ever had at Loyola.

Fr. Hartnett is an extremely interesting, sweet man. However, the semantics for the class are terrible. He does not get any indication of grades to you in a reasonable fashion/time frame, he is unclear about assignments, and he is very forgetful. Great to hear lecture; poor to have for class.

The course was team taught, which doesn't always work, but this time it did. Hartnett's classes on theories of poverty provided me with the clarity and insight I needed on this complex topic. The professor made confusing material clear and relevant.

Most boring class I've ever had but also the easiest. He's an awesome prof but not the most interesting lecturer but go to class anyway, otherwise your grade is shot.

Soft-spoken, humble, highly intelligent man. You'll read a lot, but you'll also learn a lot. Challenges you to think about religion, faith, and God, & what it all means to you, not only memorization of what others have said on it. Great man and class.
