I am very neutral about Dr. Katz's class. There were times where the class was enjoyable and other times, where it was not as much. I did learn a lot in this class and it definitely helped me learn how to teach and many different aspects of teaching whether it is core curriculum, standardized testing, or government involvement in schools. However,

Dr. Katz is a great guy. He assigns a lot of reading and you are expected to learn the material on your own. However, he doesn't necessarily test you on it; there are usually quite a few projects though that make you apply what you've learned. He tends to ramble, but he's a nice funny guy and overall I'd recommend him.

he's a great person, but expects you to learn all of the material at home, so if you're a good reader, take him because he's funny and great!

Talented professor, better man. If you're Secondary Ed, you'll have him. Quirky, but thats what makes him great. One of the most memorable Profs. I've had.

Dr. Katz is the perfect professor to introduce freshman students to education. He's deeply opinionated and passionate about education, and inspires his students. No exams, just papers and projects, both graded very fairly. Just watch that you have the right rubrics and criteria for his assignments, as he doesn't give much notice in class.

Had the misfortune of having him twice. Easy A. anything less than an A minus should feel like an F. Does not answer emails, so drop by his office for questions. Really busy professor, though. His classes are interesting, the assignments can be tough to follow, even with the rubrics. Overall good class for a professor teaching primarily freshmen.

Katz is Secondary Ed. program Director. Great guy, good sense of humor. Demanding in what he wants. Class is primarily discussion, meaning come prepared. Good guy, really knows his students. Frosh take him twice. English majors get him 4 times. One of the reasons I came to SHU, and not Rutgers.

This guy is amazing and one of my fav profs here at Seton Hall. Tells all sorts of corny jokes.. reading quizzes are easy cause they're online and "take-home".. will help you out with stuff when you need it.. understands if you need to be absent for something if it's within reason. If you're secondary ed, LOOK FORWARD TO TAKING HIM!!!!

In class is tolerable, it doesn't get too bad even though its the same class over and over again. He tries to preach variety in the classroom but does the same group work every class. if you do not agree with him then he deducts points. i once did a project on a certain period of time that he found "boring" and deducted because HE didnt like it.

BORING AND CORNY! But overall he is a nice guy. He is really concerned about his students and his assignment, even though they are a little long, are fairly easy and he doesn't grade hard. Also if you need extra time to finish a paper he will give it 2 u. The only bad thing is that is classes and so structured always working in groups-gets annoying

I'm not sure what the few complainers expect. You get all of the grading standards up front and descriptions of the assignments in detail. Plus, the assignments are all related to what we need to learn. If you don't like the class, maybe you didn't want to be a teacher!

Good teacher, i actually enjoy going to his class, despite the corny jokes. Lots of reading and projects, but if you don't save it all for at once it is not that bad (planning ahead is key in this class). If you do all the work, you'll be fine and get a good grade.

Really good teacher. Definitely very passionate about education. Very fun, interesting class. Gives a good amount of work but its all very useful. If you need an extention on a project he is extremely understanding as long as you're honest with him.

He is a very WEIRD teacher. He does give you a lot of work but only wants you to pass. If you have a problem or know that you cannot finish the assignment on time, you can ask for an extension. Plus he loves to joke around, you'll probably be worried about him after a certain time.
