Dan is the most remarkable professor I've had a the University of Minnesota. He engages his students so well that everyone genuinely wants to do the work for, and show up to, his class. Dan is caring, smart, and passionate, and he'll teach you things that can't be taught in a textbook. It's a shame he is retiring - the U is losing one of it's best.

Daniel Kelliher was my favorite professor I had during my 4 years at the U. I genuinely loved going to class, furthermore, I loved learning from such an inspirational, genuine, and intelligent man. I only wish I had this experience with more professors during my college career. You would be lucky to have him as your professor.

Hilarious, respected, thought provoking, interesting (non-journal articles) readings, very few assignments. Absolutely fascinating and incredible class. Take Kelliher before he retires! This is your only warning!

Was super nervous to take an upper-level poly sci course as a non-major, but thoroughly enjoyed Kelliher's lectures. Really cares for his students and knew everyone's name in the 60 person lecture relatively quickly. He'll know if you don't show up for class. Discussions are always entertaining. Lectures are hilarious. Very approachable professor

Daniel really, really cares about his students. He doesn't use textbooks; he assigns online readings because he knows books can be hard to afford. The material is relevant and interesting. Discussions never disappoint. You absolutely have to go to class to pass - participation and attendance are a large part of your grade. But he makes it worth it!

The best professor I've ever had. Knew everyone's names in a 55 person class by the second week, and cares about his students. He will know if you skip class though, and in-class participation is a huge part of grading.

Daniel is one of the best professors I've ever had, if not the best. He's also one of the funniest people I've ever met. I always look forward to going to class because he's hilarious but also so smart and cares so much about his students. You will come out of any class he teachers smarter. If you do what you're supposed to do, you'll get an A.

Daniel is amazing! This was easily my favorite POL class I have taken. He is engaging and leads very insightful discussions in class. Assignments are easy and relevant to current events. He is very nice when you talk to him outside of class. If you are a Poly Sci major, definitely do not leave without taking a class with Daniel!

Hilarious professor! One of the most interesting people I've ever met. He loves his students and enjoys teaching. Demands engagement from everybody in class discussions, so if you're shy, don't take him. Pretty easy grader, but you'll leave class having learned something. Great guy, and very personable. Gives pop quizzes. Really fun professor!!!!!!

Daniel is the bomb. Very engaging discussion/lecture hybrid things, very interactive with students (knew all 55 names by the second or so week), and hilarious. Realizes that a few quality readings than a boatload of bleh. Take the class.

Dan is THE MAN!!!!! I've taken his Chinese Politics as well as Family Sex and Children class, and I am taking his "Becoming Stupid" class right now. He is one of the reason I will be missing this school when I graduate in May. You will learn so much just by reading his assigned articles. Also, his is very funny! VERY! VERY! FUNNY! TAKE HIS CLASS!

GIves out "pop" quizzes to ensure you have done the reading, and showing up to class. Assigns two papers, but my complaint was the lack of grading criteria for the papers. Beyond that, I found him to be an excellent facilitator of discussions, and incredibly humorous. I do recommend Daniel, although he isn't shy about sharing his political beliefs.

Daniel is a hilarious man with amazing insight. He might rip you a bit if he likes you, but it's always in fun. He respects his students enough to know how much they'll read - most of it is news articles. Discussions are interesting and sometimes he'll do tests - one or two questions about the reading to make sure you read. TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!!

Kelliher was a good professor. He keeps things interesting, but frequently gets sidetracked. I was a bit disappointed in his Chinese Politics class. Half the time we were talking about US politics and he is driven to convince everyone that the rich and elite Republicans are the bad guys. Other than that - easy readings, only quizzes and two essays.
