Comment:

The worst professor I ever had. Goes off topic very often. Questions were not always answered throughly. Information is always misinformed. Does not make use of canvas, so no access to an updated syllabus (which was not followed) and no access to grades. Unprofessional in my book.

Professor Owens is very rude and condescending to his students. I honestly don't know why he is working as a professor. Information was difficult to understand and I had trouble finding many things throughout the class. Assignment instructions are vague and you're better off having google be your professor for the am mount of instruction used.

Comment:

I took his class for CIT15, and it was pretty easy. Be prepared for MANY tangents ("Ya know, guys...") so he'll talk about other things. I never saw him as a braggart, good information and a nice guy. He goes back and waits for all of us, but wish he talked less about his fishing trips, etc. and focused more on the work.

Comment:

Lecture his him guiding you on how to code the assignment, encourages questions and gives very valuable feedback. HW is very identical to his lectures. Isn't picky on how you code assignments. Can be arrogant, though he really does want the best for you. Helped some students get jobs related to programming after his class.

Owens is very self centered. He goes on and on about how he's the greatest. He also is very strict on attendance and punctuality. Do not miss his class or you won't learn much and/or get dropped. He is a good instructor if you pay attention and are interested. The work is pretty straightforward. Do not procrastinate and you'll be fine.

Not personable, does't work with students at all!! Doesn't understand personal situations like mother being in the hospital or having a baby for a week. 2 true personal stories. I feel like taking his online class, he doesn't provide much resources to help you with the class. If you don't know how to do Word, Excel or any of the other programs, you'll definitely have trouble with the MyItLab that goes along with the course. I didn't feel like I really learned very much.

Tough class, but a great intro to programming if you're at all interested, I've had no experience in any before this class.Homework was easy at first but progressed in difficulty as weeks went on.He can come off as rude sometimes like others have said, but he can also motivate you to learn this stuff.Study hard for tests, they're tough.Recommended.

I'm a 4.0 student and we are 10 weeks in. Dan is arrogant, strongly opinionated, and argumentative. Uses a reference book which is similar to teaching from a dictionary rather than a student friendly course manual. Spends most his class time talking about himself. Will have to reteach myself the material during intercession. Worthless instructor.

Arrogant. Repeats & Talks about himself A LOT. Doesn't come across as helpful because THERE ARE DUMB questions (from my observations). He favors those with same interest (so tell him you like hiking or backpacking) He is rather strict, (ESPECIALLY ON ATTENDANCE & TIME) but it keeps people on their feet. Actual assignments are easy.

ARROGANT, but smart. Runs his class like a super strict business, so be THERE & ON TIME or you will get chewed out or dropped. Goes off on tangents a lot. Hard to keep your mind focused on the actual material at times. Has a hard time conveying the info if your a noob and gets easily frustrated by ignorance. I give him a B- at best, a C+ at worst.

Mr. Owens spent most of his time talking about himself, how wonderful he is and how he is THE #1 goto person on computers. He talks on the subject for about 20 mins shows a vid or 2 from Youtube then class is over and now we have a test on things he never discussed. I do not recomend him. He dropped me for being in hosp 2wks with doc. and 97.3%
