talked behind some students' backs in a derogatory way to other professors, which is very unprofessional!

Comment:
I disagree slightly with some of the other comments. I never experience a sort of "Short man" syndrome in his class. He generally explained the material fairly clearly, and was respectful to students. Any sort of arrogance claims seem to be students misinterpreting his demeanor.

Comment:
Unsympathetic if you come to lab unprepared and doesn't answer questions so much as he asks the questions meant to lead you to how to answer them yourself. Not above laughing when you accidentally blow something up, which rubs some people the wrong way.

Comment:
Tended to act smug and self-superior if asked for help. Seems to be unable to admit he doesn't know something. His class was HARD, and he made little attempt to help people get through it.

Really helpful and ready to explain stuff. Very hard to please in lab, he won't tell you what he expects on the first lab, and then marks you down when you get do it wrong! But great on conceptual stuff.

Comment:
Petersen is extremely smart, but sometimes he explains stuff for the sake of showing off how smart he is as opposed to really trying to help you, or so it seems. He's great to talk to outside of class though and really knows physics inside and out.
