Comment:

Super nice guy. Kind and always just looking for some participation. Lectures can get boring, but they're tolerable. Gives mini quizzes and sends out readings/hints beforehand. Lots and lots of reading material, but you can get away with skimming it or using sparknotes. We watch a lot of film clips, which I enjoy.

Thought it would be an easy class, but very reading intensive. Gives lot of reading quizzes but tells you exactly what will be on them so can skim through readings. Class is boring but we get out early fairly often. Helps out students who are active & participate in class. Not as simple as I hoped but he is very helpful and wants you to do well.

He's such an awesome teacher! The coursework is a little bland and difficult at times, but with the powerpoints and his explanations, it works out. Rhetoric is a hard subject, but he makes it tolerable.

the first day of class is very interesting and he makes it seem like you are going to have a good time. the material he gave was so hard i had no idea what he was talking about. he shows movies but the material is very difficult. everything is curved so you are bound to get at least a C. make sure you attend class.

the material is difficult to understand, more than mass media and the book he assigns cant be found and its from the 80s. but he really helps you out through it, is very laid back and really just wants to help you get good grades. if you participate, youl do great. he loves participation. if not, you can still do okay if you do good on everything

Very laid back and nice man. Really cares about his subject matter. LOTs of reading, quizzes almost daily. Class focuses on meaning(s) of texts and ideas. I applied myself and got a C+. Not very easy, but not the end of the world. I was worried about where my grade was standing most of the semester...

his class wasnt hard but its not easy either. you just have to apply youself and you know do the work and you should be fine.. i got a C so i am satisfied...whooo i thought i was goin gto fail after the midterm but that wasnt the case... good teacher also he looks like a hippie!

First of all, this has got to be the most boring class I've ever taken at Rowan. He's a really really nice guy, and is willing to help as much as possible, but that doesn't help the content of the course at all. I'm not sure if it's the way he teaches the class or the class itself, but it's not recommended.

I hated the class. He was a nice guy. Class was BORING, readings were boring and made no sense... and if you don't participate you are sunk...so if you dont like to participate, don't take him. And also dont take him if you wan't to learn anything about mass media. You just read long boring chapters out of books that sort of relate to the media.

I am a student that needs to have the material explained IN DETAIL. and Dan reviews constantly. The work is hard, but as students we have to work hard to get a good grade. the tests are tricky but if you read youll be fine. trust me i hate to read.. his grading is fair.. you dont have to pass the tests to pass the class.

I absolutely loved him. So nice, really knows his material, and class is actually fun. He's always having his students say their opinions so it's not just a lecture. I got a good grade and didn't even read all the material, just pay attention in class and you'll be fine.

Hate to badmouth the class since he's such a nice guy. But in all honestly the class is HARD. 10 quizes are given where you have to fill in the missing word after reading a 20 page article! The midterm was insanely difficult even though I studied all my notes. Material can be cool but not worth it!!

A lot of readings each week, 10 short quizzes on the readings, Midterm and Final. Material can be VERY difficult to understand, but if you SPEAK UP!!! Ask questions and go see him. You should get an A.
