Dan was one of the nicest professors ever. It is imperative to speak with him with whatever problem you have, he will genuinely understand. But, Dan expects a lot from his students and it is their responsibility to come prepared to class every day for points. His class disciplined me to become more strict on my assignment. Do not take for easy A.

If you're looking for an Easy A with minimal work- don't take this class. If you want to learn about philosophy and have a wonderful experience with a great professor, take it. I hated philosophy and Dan in the beginning, as I'm pre-med. I went from a D on my first essay to a 100% on my second because I learned to love and respect him and the class

Dan is AMAZING. He expects a lot from his students and may try to scare you in the beginning but for those who are willing to spend an hour on every HW, you will get SO much out of this class. I hold Dan in such high respect, so glad I took his class. Not a phil major but I found the class very interesting and I learned a lot! Study group is a must

Readings can be very difficult, but you must do them and answer the questions that go with them for quizzes. I find him sweet and very caring about his students. It is in no way an easy class but I think learning from Dan makes it worth it.

Dan has been my favorite professor so far. He is a great lecturer and is so inspirational. The class is a lot of work, to do well you have to prepare answers to the study questions for each class, but it is so worth it. I would take him again in a heart beat. Great teacher. Great philosopher. Great man.

I started off the semester hating Dan, but came to respect him as the class progressed. He is one of the most genuine human beings you'll ever meet, and he loves his students. The class is difficult-quizzes before discussing the material, heavy reading, etc., but if you put in the effort it's no big deal. He's great!

He's amazing. There are a lot of essays and 3 pt quizzes that add up quickly, but he gives you most of the questions so if you put the work in it's easy and so possible to get an A. He is the kindest man and really cares about his students. By far one of the best classes I have taken and I hate philosophy! Take Dan

Amazing person, amazing teacher. Work load was, at times, very rough, but overall an amazing class. If you try and aren't lazy it's very possible to get an A. Dr. Vaillancourt loves his students and wants everyone to succeed. He is also funny and makes class interesting, and very flexible.

Dan changed my life. Although his class was difficult, it was AMAZING. I left with a new and large interest in philosophy that wasn't present before. He really wants all his students to succeed and rewards hard work. If you're lazy and don't take education that seriously, this class isn't for you, but I definitely learned a lot.

Dan is a great teacher! Take this class for PHIL core. I received an A, and I had absolutely no interest or knowledge of philosophy. He's very kind, wants all his students to succeed, not just in his class but life. I'm gonna miss his class, even though it was challenging. Try very hard and get help if needed and you'll be fine. Dan's the best! :)

Dan is a great teacher. There is a quiz every class (2 pts) & you can't ditch class or you'll miss alot. He's kind and really wants everyone to pass. He outlines the structures of essays u have to write for the tests during class, so write down everything u see and hear! The workload is heavy, don't procrastinate. Take his class for an A in PHIL.

YIKES. i dont know where to begin. Theres quizzes every class (open notes), so unless you wanna fail, you can't ditch. The workload isn't light. The information is hard. He expects a lot, though he does explain things very well. Do the hw, or you'll look like a fool is he calls on you (which he does every so often). Try hard, and you may survive.
