If you cheated or took 240/1 online at a CC, you will not do well. This class weeds out people who are not ready or not really interested in ACC. However, if you understand 240/1 and put a little bit of effort in this class Easy A. More importantly, this course gives you amazing info on being an accountant, certifications, and which courses to take

Professor Brickner is my favorite teacher. He is extremely organized and explains things in a way that make difficult concepts easy to understand. He is also very responsive to email and is very patient in answering questions. The class is not easy because the content is pretty detailed but he makes things easy to understand. Highly recommended.

His lectures aren't good. Very confusing; skips around chapters, doesn't explain thoroughly like examples or directions, goes through homework more than anything and tells you if you're wrong or right. Reading the book is required, but it doesn't help because he is confusing, so any question you have, just throw out the window. WORST TEACHER EVER.

You have to attend every class because participation is counted towards your grade. If you miss a class, you really get lost. The book partially helps, even if you read all of it. HE GRADES HEAVILY. He only has two exams, rather than three. His extra credit are around 1 to 2 points. Overall, he makes the topics harder than they should be!

Professor Brickner is one of the best professors I've ever had. He takes personal interest in his students, both for the success in his course and in their careers. He encouraged me to participate in recruitment this fall and I managed to get an internship. Lots of hw, but not overly difficult. Tests are challenging, but that was anticipated.

Dr. Brickner is a very caring and dedicated teacher. He helps students succeed not only in class but also in their careers too. I took his class last winter and it gave me focus and direction for my career goals. Because of his class I was much more prepared for the recruiting season this semester. Excellent teacher overall.

Professor Brickner is awesome! I never rate professors, but I decided to because he is the best professor I have ever had. Its not all about school with him. He takes time to go over information that is helpful for the future. He cares about the future of his students and always passes along internship/leadership program opportunities.

Brickner has a lot of connections and will regularly email you internship/job opportunities in the Ypsi/Ann Arbor area. I got my current job of $15/hr because of him. Amazing lecturer, but class is hard. Study every day if possible.

By the end of ACC 296 with Brickner, YOU WILL KNOW if you want to go into accounting or not. He's a fantastic teacher, but the class is hard. You will HAVE TO read the book. There is homework due every class and a few assignments, if you do well on all of them it will move your cumulative score up a grade. The tests are HARD. Study for them.

Professor Brickner is one of the best teachers I've had at EMU. He actually teaches and explains the material so you can understand it. His exams are not easy but if you do the work and follow his test guides you should be fine.

BUY GLEIM BOOK & STUDY EARLY! It helps prepare for tests, which have similar style questions as CPA exam. "5 point fun" pop quizzes - review slides and end of chapter homework to prepare. Start audit project early - 2nd week of class. It takes a LOT of time to put together. I recommend making this your only class for term due to effort/deadlines.

One of the best teachers I've had at EMU. You do have to work in the class and definitely don't fall behind. Exams are not easy but are fair. He also gives a lot of bonus point opportunities which help your grade.

He's great. Has a lot of knowledge about the accounting field and tells you exactly what he expects from you. DO THE HOMEWORK. He gives a lot of little assignments but they could be the difference between a letter grade. He doesn't curve exams so snag all the extra credit he offers.

Brickner is on of the best professors I have had. I went into the class not really interested in auditing but after his class I now plan to work in audit. This class is a lot of work (especially the audit plan) but it's one of the best classes I have taken. It's a good idea to study for the CPA exam either during or right after this class.

Worst Professor your ever going to take for an accounting class. Talks non stop. Really hard exams and calls the celebration of knowledge. Too much projects and homework that are not graded. Doesn't put grades online.

Not only is Professor Brickner a great teacher in the classroom but he is very dedicated and caring about his students outside of the class. Even after the semester I had him he still keeps in touch by emailing our class about jobs, scholarships and summer leadership programs. He really cares about his students. One of the best instructors at EMU.

Worst Professor I have had at EMU. Talks to much. Don't really know what he wants. Don't know what is important because of all the details. Tries to explain things that are common sense for example teacher rating form. His tests are hard. Homework basically worth nothing compared to the tests. Wants you to follow his instructions to the dot.

Hes an excellent teacher. As other students have said you have to work for your grade but it was worth it. Besides financial accounting content, he covers a lot of job and career information in this class. He helped with my resume and interviewing tips and told us about Handshake which helped get me an internship for winter. Highly recommended.

Brickner's the best! Passed Audit section of CPA exam on my first try after taking his class! His class was really thorough and really prepared me for the exam. Yes the audit plan project was a bear (lol) but I learned a lot doing it! He made class interesting and he's funny as well. So glad to pass Audit before starting full-time! Thanks Dr B!

This professor has nothing to do with his time. He will talk all class long. Too detailed wants everything his way or the highway. Doesn't encourage creativity. For example, with the resume assignment he wants it to be exactly like the one he had in class. He will give you 5 pages of instruction for the one accounting problem. Exams are hard.
