Daniel was an awesome teacher, in ENGL 240 we studied ways of reading, and he did a grand job in explaining each and the way he did group presentations on each subject was empowering and taught us how to apply what we learned.

Daniel Burgoyne is the best professor I have ever had. As a forewarning, there will be assignments and readings that will seem off-topic in the end there is a method to his madness. His assignments really push you to write a paper on a subject that you would not normally choose. Overall he is very pleasant, kind and understanding.

THE WORST EVER- many others agree- He is an enigmatic marker. His assignment specifications are vague. Adherence to his additional instructions are unrewarded. He lectures very little. Students form discussion groups on their own accord. Most of the time is spent listening to students' improvised, superficial, & lengthy interpretations of poetry.

I had this professor for my first English class in university, and I liked him so much I've switched English classes for the next semester just to have him. He was always available for help, always gave very clear examples of assignments and concepts, and made sure to include everyone in class discussion. I couldn't recommend him any more.

He seemed to have a very open mind, and he got me interested in genre theory in a summer course, so that must say quite a lot for his teaching ability. I didn't love the web ct part, but I survived it. You could learn a lot from him if you tried. I wish I had tried harder, in actual fact.

Absolutely abhored the class, but absolutely loved him. He is constantly lively, even when persons would fall asleep, and very refreshing. He marks fairly - not too easy, and not at all hard. He's definitely very approachable outside of class and makes an effort to help you out whichever way he can. I recommend him, but not the class.

very down to earth and helpfull. he encourages and rewards improvment, and is very willing to review and help along assignments. classes were a little boring, but if you make an effort to participate its not so bad. I felt very well prepared for the final exam.

Daniel is a really down to earth proff with a good sense of humor. He tries to keep things fairly light and definitely has a huge amount of interest in the Romantic Period. The class moved fairly quickly in sections where I wished we could have spent more time (and vice versa). Definitely keep up with the readings. No walk in the park though.

A highly compassionate and down-to-earth prof. Work hard and you'll be rewarded. Fair marker esp. if your effort is evident. Tends to occasionally blush in class - cute & refreshing for a prof. Definitely go to his office hours - great way to get help. Highly thoughful and understanding.
